While we’ve heard the DC Universe streaming service could launch as soon as this August, no official launch date has been given for platform. However, that doesn't mean the folks involved aren’t hard at work developing their slate of live-action and animated series. Already, we've seen production start on Titans and Young Justice Season 3, and now Omega Underground claims we can expect their live-action Swamp Thing series to begin filming sometime this fall in North Carolina.

Not a lot of details on the show have been revealed, but we do know of some of the creative people attached to the project.
Among the names connected to Swamp Thing is Aquaman director James Wan and showrunners Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman.

Also, some character breakdowns have shed some light on what kind of story they will be telling. This includes suggesting that Swamp Thing will put a lot of focus on Abby Arcane’s hometown, and will see Abby develop a relationship the Protector of the Green that is similar to that seen in The Shape of Water.

So, are you excited for the Swamp Thing series? Make sure to comment below.

@BlackBeltJones - I love how Swamp Thing just owns Aquaman just by saying that.

I went ahead and purchased Season One and Two from the USA Network's Swamp Thing: The Series to get ready for this. So worth it!

Season One was good. Season Two was much better.

I need a John Constantine guest appearance and I have this crazy notion to make the Corinthian the villain.

@MarkV - There was a rumor that DC were wanting to put all the mystical themed characters into a new show. Swampy is the perfect story to introduce Sandman, Tim Hunter, Deadman, Xanadu, and Animal Man.

Swamp Thing is one of those titles I've always wanted to read but have never approached it because I don't know where to begin. Any recommendations?

@Benjamitesandwich - Basically, nearly all of Alan Moore's work in the 80s.

@Benjamitesandwich - Yes, Alan Moore is to Swamp Thing as Neil Gaiman is to Sandman.

@Benjamitesandwich - Read the original run while you are at it. Wein’s stories were not as deep and epi as Moore’s, but the art is worth it. Bernie Wrightson was the best Swamp Thin artist IMHO. No one does horror art like him.
