Following recent reports that James Wan has decided not to direct The DC Universe Swamp Thing pilot, we're hearing that Len Wiseman has stepped in to replace him.

Splash Report claims to have heard from multiple sources that the Underworld creator is set to helm the first episode of the new live-action series, which is based on the popular DC Comics Earth Elemental. The show is currently scheduled to begin shooting this Fall in Wilmington, NC.

In addition to the Underworld franchise, Wiseman is responsible for the likes of Live Free or Die Hard and the Total Recall remake.

Swamp Thing is being developed as a one-hour show, and has Mark Verheiden (Battlestar Galactica) and Gary Dauberman (It) on board to write the pilot. They'll also executive produce alongside Michael Clear and James Wan.

I wonder if all these DC Universe properties are going to share a universe. If that's the case, it'll probably be bigger than the Arrowverse one day.

@knocturnalzen10 - No. I thought the first one had a couple of redeeming qualities (Kate Beckinsale, for one) but it was derivative nonsense overall.

I mean, I love Underworld but it wasn't a good movie lol. Just a cool, fun vampire vs werewolf action film that was just nonsense. This isn't a good pick imo lol.

Also, Underworld is always a good re watch for one great reason:

yikes... this was the best they could do? Maybe he'll rise to the occasion and give us a breakthrough hit. I want this to be good so goddamn bad. And it will likely decide whether I actually get this subscription or not.
