Last year, an adaptation of Y: The Last Man was announced to be in development at FX. However, since that announcement, no new details have emerged. At the Winter TCA's FX CEO John Landgraf stated that news should be coming soon but ultimately, Brian K. Vaughn is in the driver's seat and will control the direction of the show. Said Landgraf, "We’ve had a number of producers and writers who really want to participate in that. Ultimately, it’s Brian’s call who he wants to work with and I think that’ll come out soon."
Y: The Last Man is a comic book series by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra published by Vertigo beginning in 2002. The series is about the only man to survive the apparent simultaneous death of every male mammal (barring the same man's pet monkey) on Earth. The series was published in sixty issues by Vertigo and collected in a series of ten paperback volumes (and later a series of five hardcover "Deluxe" volumes). The series' covers were primarily by J. G. Jones and Massimo Carnevale. The series received five Eisner Awards.
D. J. Caruso, David Goyer and Louis Letterier were previously attached to the film adaptation. Alicia Keys, Zachary Levi and Shia LaBeouf were rumored but never confirmed for various roles, with Levi rumored for the lead.
