David Duchovny Confirms X-Files 3; Script Is In The Works!

Actor David Duchovny, who played Agent Mulder in the popular TV show X-Files and it's two movies, confirms that the script is underway for the third film!

Speaking with TVMag (France) via XFilesNews.com, actor David Duchovny confirmed that the script for a third feature film based on the X-Files franchise is in the works. He also shared some of his thoughts regarding the second movie X-Files: I Want To Believe.

Check out what he had to say:

"It is in the process of being written. One awaits just the green light from Fox, a little disappointed from the relatively poor reception of the second film. The error comes, in my opinion, that the authors strayed too far from the roots of the series. Moreover, the film was released in the summer. The third will be much closer to what the public expects, with government conspiracies, etc."

So, the last movie really wasn't that good, it felt like a TV movie and it didn't have that atmosphere like the show or even the first feature film. However, as a huge fan of the entire franchise, I wonder what will they do with the next one. Maybe 2012 and the end of the world? What do you think?

Also with X-FILES 3 they should get heaps of characters from the spin-off/connected shows in it =

Lone Gunman, Millennium & Strange Luck!

Now that would be cool!

Didn't the ending of movie 2 signal the end of the series? You know, that scene where Mulder and Scully are in a sailboat, waving to the camera?

Why can't they just let the show die with dignity?

Oh yeah, too late.

Actually it hasn't been confirmed. This French magazine is reporting that David Duchovny said that an XF3 script was in the works. It hasn't been directly confirmed by anyone related to the franchise or by Fox.

Huge fan....by far one of my most fav shows growing up. The 1st movie was spot on. The second one...hmmm not so much. They need to find a way to make Molder and Scully agents again. I didnt like the feel of them not being agents.

Oh and we need the smoking man cloned and brought back and the man in black. X-Files was the bomb.

They should just not bother with this. The series was ok but mostly crap. David Duchovny needs to do the world a favor and take a dirt nap.

I too, am a HUGE fan of this TV series!! I hope that the writers (I'm looking at YOU, Chris Carter!!) have learned from the mistakes (a'plenty!) that were in the second dud of a movie. It will be way better and more to the heart of the series. I want to beleive!

The other day I actually watched the series finale again and thought why the hell don't they make a movie actually dealing with the alien invasion. Well looks like my wish might come true.

I enjoy the whole thing - tv/movies.

Fight The Future was pretty far out there, though after a couple viewing's I feel it had had potential - just highly anti climactic.

But I think it was dissapointing in a sense, because most of us were expecting something with more than the first film (I agree with the general consensus on the first film that it's great), and they pulled it a little too far back down to Earth.

That and they may as well just make a porno - the XXX files; as that last film pushed all sexual tension out of the relationship, and Gillian is getting older... she was SO hot.

Do you mean Fight The Future or I want to believe? Fight The Future was name of the first one.

Sh*t, the X-files was the best show to come
out of the 90's. I liked the second movie,
and if you watched the show, you'd know that
not every episode involved government conspiracy
and aliens. The 2nd movie takes after one of
their psychothriller/paranormal episodes which
also were plentyful in the tv series. If fox
had any brains they'd realize that X-Files 2
did not do well in the theaters because it was
realeased on the same weekend as "Batman - the
Dark Knight" which happened to become the must
see movie of the year. The tv series may be over
but the story is not dead. Their will always be
fans and interest to see more X-Files.

Definite yes to "X-Files 3".

I just got done watching most of all the first few seasons (when it was just Mulder and Scully). Great show. The first movie was awesome, but the second one definitely left you wanting something better. A pyschic pedophilic priest....bleh...russian body transplanters was cool (Cerberus Dog, GO!!*pokeball opens*). But yeah, focus back on something more entertaining than what could have been summed up in a single 45 min episode.

I'm just glad we might actually get an legit end to x-files, they always talked about aliens coming in 2012. The last movie felt like a boring episode of x-files, but at least it wasn't as bad as season 8 and 9. It was season 7 quality, not the best but didn't make me hate myself for watching it.
