X-Files 3 Movie Set To Abduct Audiences Again In 2012?

David Duchovny is on board..............................................................................................................

This from thedailybeast.com:

"Duchovny looks forward to filming a third X-Files film in the near future. “As far as the X-Files movie I’d like to do next, if we get a chance to do it, would be a return to the heart and soul of the mythology, which is the alien-oriented conspiracy. I think it’s natural for The X-Files to have another movie in 2012, so we’ll see if we get to do it.” He defends last year’s widely panned I Want to Believe, as well as the polarizing last few seasons of the television run: “I was happy with it… I have nothing but respect for [X-Files creator] Chris Carter and the writing staff.”

David goes on to further explain his reasons for wanting a third X-Files film:

"A show or movie with the staying power of The X-Files happens so rarely, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime event for an actor, and a certain residue accrues to a person when they are involved in something like that,” Duchovny says pensively. “There was a prejudice within the Hollywood community where they didn't know I could do anything else. I understand the residue and I don’t resent it, but certainly I am happy to have created another character that’s so different, in a different genre, and I would love to keep doing that.”

If Hollywood didn't know David could do anything else they certainly got a shock out of Showtime's original series "Californication" which is pretty good by the way. Californication was great for David's career because it broke the Mulder. David was no longer chained to one kind of role.

Facts are facts and X-Files 2 was not very good. I have the up most respect for Chris Carter but if X-Files 3 get's a green light (which it probably will) then I hope Chris listens to David and they go with the "return to the heart and soul of the mythology, which is the alien-oriented conspiracy." Take this opportunity and make something epic, not just good enough.

Now, for those of you that did NOT know X-Files was a comic book take a whiff of this.

Leee...just, no! Im going to pretend i never saw that.

X Files 2 was fairly rubbish. They spent so much time on the characters they forgot about the movie! Yes, Tea, this sis one occasion where more action and less depth would have been preferable! Duchovny and Anjderson were class though..

ALIENS, MYSTERIES, SECRET UNDERGROUND BASES, UNDERCOVER CONTACTS, ROUGE AGENTS..THATS WHAT I WANTED TO SEE..THE FIRST X FILES MOVIE WAS COOLER THAN THE LAST

@bman, same here, found the movies and show awfully boring. If they want to make a movie based on a show, they should do Fist Of The North Star, or The Tick

X-files was the greatest television series of the nineties and part of the oughts. It definitely deserves another movie and then another and another. They should have Dogget and Reyes in the next movie too, Anabeth Gish and Robert Patrick were AWESOME on the show.

BTW if you were never really into X-files then WHY THE HELL ARE YOU POSTING ON THIS THREAD????

You don't see me going to the Dragonballs or other gay manga articles, pissing and moaning about them, and then declaring that I never had any interest in them in the first place.

I'm sick of posts for the sake of posting. If you have nothing to contribute, get lost. NOBODY CARES what you think.

woah, that's alot of pent up annoyance, mayb you should go to those manga posts and tell them how you feel.

At any rate I like the second movie, it was a good homage to the monster of the week episodes from the early x files seasons, which I personally really liked.

I knew this movie was going to happen. It makes
perfect sense. There was no true ending to the
alien conspiracy story that ran throughout the
series, and the year 2012 makes sense because
that's when the aliens were suppose to invade and
begin colonizing earth. It would be nice to
finally have some closure
with regard to that story.

lol, i'm probably going to get a lot of smack for being a kid, but i thought x-files was boring as hell. i used to get so exasperated when it'd come on tv. and the movie, should have been "I Want To Enjoy", because i watched it hoping it would be less boring then the series, and it was not. x-files sizucks...

Love it and still Tivo it on SYFY @ 2am.....

My favorite episode was the one with "The Smoking Gun" telling the story of CGB Spender aka the smoking man.

The Musing of the Smoking Man was great...making him out to be the man behind histories biggest assasinations.

I hope they can bring him back...even tho he died 3 times so far...but hey they can always clone him.

Im aslo glad David broke free of the Mulder role. I think the movie (i forget the title) where he played a plastic sergion hook on drugs and hookers and get in trouble with the mob out in LA .

side note...imagine "Fringe" with mulder guest staring...that would be hot...

this was one of my all time favorite shows. watched it religiously. the first movie was good. the second was probably one of the biggest pieces of shit ive ever seen. and ive seen lots of shit. if they make a third ill give it one more go. but after that im out if they screw it up.

and your right, it is ironic that duchonvy could not wait to get away from the x-files, and now he cant wait to get back. i guesse the grass isnt always greener.
StephenStrange
StephenStrange - 10/22/2009, 12:19 PM
@ Necro: I hear ya. However some very good things happened after that. They even went through a period where Sculder and Mulley weren't even on the show and it was still pretty watchable.
StephenStrange
StephenStrange - 10/22/2009, 1:46 PM
Well here's how it went down: Mulder got abducted by aliens. So they brought in hard boiled, uber skeptical Special agent Dogett to head up the search for Mulder and assist Skulley on X Files investigations until Mulder is returned.

New age flake and sometime clairevoiant Agent Reyas was brought in as a consultant earlier in the series, and when Skulley and Mulder have to go into hiding, she takes over as Doggett's partner.

It WAS really hard to get into it at first, but the episodes were so good during that time that once I got over my initial annoyance it was ok. I still missed M & S, but for a little while it was ok.

Anyway that show lasted nine years. I can understand actors as seasoned as those two wanting to take time off eventually.
