"The Strain" is a high concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.

The Strain premieres July 2014 on FX.

First. And Del Toro is an overhyped moviemaker. Subpar at best.

@Tuuralihn

Pan's Labyrinth was a masterpiece, the Hellboy movies were freaking awesome, and Pacific Rim was badass. How is he overrated?

Del Toro is a good story teller, and that is like, my opinion, man. The Strain Trilogy had me sucked in from the very beginning.

@doopie par would be completely average. He's below that.

@chewish Perlman was fun to watch, but the plotholes and comically awful SFX just doesn't do it for me.

I'll give you Pan's Labyrinth.

P-Rim was destruction/RobotvAlien-porn(and people complain about Man of Steel) riddled with plot holes and a useless, tiny "plot".

Blade II was meh.

I can go on with everything he has produced/written.

Just glad he left the Hobbit early on.
