It seems Disney is going full steam ahead with these live action remakes, cause after the annoucement of a live action Winnie The Pooh, a prequel to Aladdin and a live action Dumbo we now have confirmation thanks to Hollywood Reporter that Disney will also be developing a live action remake of the final film released before Walt Disney passed away, The Sword In The Stone.
Although the film is still in the early stages they currently have a writer on board. The script will be written by Game Of Thrones writer Brian Cogman, who aside from this is also currently working on an adaptation of Magic: The Gathering for Fox. However it seems like the man does have what it takes to write for the Medieval fantasy genre as he has been nominated for the WGA Awards four times thanks to his work on Game Of Thrones.
The film shall also be produced by Brigham Taylor who will also be producing the upcoming remake of the Jungle Book directed by Jon Faverau.
What are your guys thoughts on this news? Did you like the original? Do you think this fits the live action Disney mold? Or do you wish they would just stop and do something else? List your thoughts down below.
This Disney adaptation of the classic fable chronicles King Arthur's humble beginnings. As an orphaned child, Arthur, who was then known as Wart, wants to help his foster brother, Kay, succeed in becoming a knight. While helping Kay train, Wart stumbles upon a cabin belonging to Merlin, a bumbling but talented wizard. Merlin does his best to convince the boy that he is bound for greatness, and when Wart and Kay travel to London to attend a jousting contest, they learn that Merlin was right.
