Earlier this week, HBO released cryptic synopses for the second and third episodes of Game of Thrones season six offering major teases for things to come. Considering the show has started to veer away from the books, it's a little tricky trying to decipher exactly what we could see, but it really doesn't sound like good things are ahead for our heroes. Check out the episode descriptions below:

Episode #52: “Home”

Bran trains with the Three-Eyed Raven. In King’s Landing, Jaime advises Tommen. Tyrion demands good news, but has to make his own. At Castle Black, the Night’s Watch stands behind Thorne. Ramsay Bolton proposes a plan, and Balon Greyjoy entertains other proposals.

Episode #53: “Oathbreaker”

Daenerys meets her future. Bran meets the past. Tommen confronts the High Sparrow. Arya trains to be No One. Varys finds an answer. Ramsay gets a gift.

Plus, check out new promotional stills from Sunday's episode, "Home," below and catch your first look at a ton of returning faces:

Episode #52 (season 6, episode 2): “Home”

Debut: SUNDAY, MAY 1 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT)

Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) trains with the Three-Eyed Raven (Max von Sydow). In King’s Landing, Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) advises Tommen (Dean-Charles Chapman). Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) demands good news, but has to make his own. At Castle Black, the Night’s Watch stands behind Thorne (Owen Teale). Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) proposes a plan, and Balon Greyjoy (Patrick Malahide) entertains other proposals.

Written by Dave Hill; directed by Jeremy Podeswa.

Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne continues.

It stretches from the south, where heat breeds plots, lusts and intrigues, to the vast and savage eastern lands, where a young queen raises an army. All the while, in the frozen north, an 800-foot wall of ice precariously protects the war-ravaged kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men...all play the 'Game of Thrones.'

An original series based on George R.R. Martin's best-selling 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series.

Game of Thrones returns May 1

I always believed it'd be Bran that ends up saving everyone and that looks like that's where we're headed.

So do I miss something, because isn't Bran paralyzed? Is it a dream sequence or something?

@Kman - It's the Three Eyed Raven training Bran. They use his power to see into the past. They're kind of like ghosts standing and observing the events. One will be watching young Ned, Benjen and Lyanna Stark in Winterfell along with young Robert Baratheon and Hoder. The other vision they'll see is the whole Tower of Joy sequence.

@CplHicks - Yea I remember the Three Eyed Raven telling Bran he'll never walk again but he will fly... I'm assuming the visions are what he's talking about

"Ramsey gets a gift." I think I know what it is and I don't like it. I think the Umbers, who have been sheltering Rickon, Osha and Shaggydog will ally with the Boltons and hand them over to Ramsay.
