Though Game Of Thrones has always featured strong female characters, they haven't always been given the chance to demonstrate that strength in the ruthless, male-dominated world of Westeros. Well, that's going to change in season 6 according to HBO programming president Michael Lombardo, who promises a radical shift in power.
“The women are rocking this season — and I’m not just saying that because they’re on your cover. They power this season. It’s organic to the storytelling, yet a radical shift. It’s the women that are the hope that we’re watching as the chess pieces move this season, and it’s very exciting.”
Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne continues. It stretches from the south, where heat breeds plots, lusts and intrigues, to the vast and savage eastern lands, where a young queen raises an army. All the while, in the frozen north, an 800-foot wall of ice precariously protects the war-ravaged kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men...all play the 'Game of Thrones.' An original series based on George R.R. Martin's best-selling 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series.
Game of Thrones returns April 24
