While the Comic-Con trailer for
Watchmen did reveal that the upcoming Damon Lindelof series would debut in October, HBO has now reaffirmed the news by formally announcing the series premiere date at their TCA summer press tour appearance earlier today, while also confirming that the first season would run a total of nine episodes.
Lindelof also engaged in an extensive Q&A in which he shared a number of interesting details about the story he hopes to tell within this unique world, where the line between heroes and villains is murky... at best. "
It is an examination of institutions and culture and politics and things that inform our society."

There are no easy answers. There are no grandiose solutions. In a traditional superhero movie, the bad guys are fighting aliens and when they beat the aliens, the aliens go back to their planet and everybody wins. There's no defeating white supremacy. It's not going anywhere, so it felt like it was a pretty formidable foe."
Now, as for whether Lindelof thinks his series has done the source material justice, it seems that he's still not sure. "
I went through a very intensive period of terror of [frick]ing it up and I'm not entirely sure I'm out of that tunnel."

King leads the cast as Angela Abar, who wears two masks; one as a lead detective in The Tulsa Police Force and another as wife and mother of three.
