Interesting.....

My wife liked it. She's never read the book, and she was entertained by the story. And the biggest thing she got is that all the characters are flawed characters. She loved that...

I understand where both the guys were coming from, and I agree that the music was one of the most off setting things. Especially "Hallelujah" for the intense sex scene between Laurie and Dan. But as far as the movie goes as an adaptation, it was great, incredible and just plain awesome. It got everything right from the book, and played it out nicely. However, coming from a non biased standpoint, it isn't something that makes you go, "whoa!" Like Poland said, it was almost too literal for those who didn't know the book...I loved the movie, I thought it was great, but I do understand it's downfalls, and why others didn't share my joy.

yeah my wife loved it as well, also one of my favorite things about the movie was the music so meh. Bladerunner is a good comparison, also that guy on the right is a total douche, he's just repeating the same thing all the other negative reviewers are saying, "You needed to make a normal hollywood movie and change the story to make it good." GO TO HELL HOLLYWOOD is my responce to all of those morons.

xaosjerk, your right, its lame to change in order to please someone. The guy on the left was totally right, I read the book a couple times in order to get things (and I still find new things when I re-read) and this movie is one that will have to be re-seen. Unfortunatly, people don't want to spend the time to re-see a 3 hour movie (I am not one of those people :^) ) My only complaint, (right now) Nixon's makeup artist should be shot, set ablaze, burried and then fired from their job. He looked terrible.

I wanted to hear those guys take on the alternate ending. I guess we will have to wait for another interview.

The soundtrack totally sucked. I'm with the Poland guy when he said something about people thinking it was just ok. That's what it was just OK. This movie is TOTALLY HOLLYWOOD.

The Poland guy was right, totally. He wasn't bashing the movie at all, he just said it was so literal an adaptation of the book that it is nearly impossibe to get the full effect if you hadn't read the graphic novel. And from someone that didn't read it, he was right. Its hard to really say anything bad about the production. Honestly, if i had to grade it, I'd have to give everything from the visuals to the acting and an A+. But as cool as i thought everything was, after sittin there for almost 3 hours, the only character I cared anything about was Rorschach. It's almost like he(Snyder) tried to cram so much stuff in the movie from the comic, that alomst everyone and everything was too underdeveloped to really care about. And before anyone says that i just didn't "get it", I know its supposed to be deep but it isn't nuclear physics, I got it. There just wasn't enough in the movie that connected to the actual plot of the movie. Way too much Comedian and not nearly enough Ozymandias. I understand the movie REALLY wanted to comment on the "human condition", but they might have wanted to develop the character that's about to murder millions of people to save billions and whats going on in his head... Just a little... Don't get me wrong, I liked the overall story a lot and don't think it needs to be changed to make a movie at all. But If you're gonna adapt a graphic novel into one 3hr movie, then you're gonna have to "sreamline" it some or make multiple movies. Especially this story. Though I never read the book, I can tell that they hinted on a lot of things that they did't really get a chance to get into. Like they tried to cram a story as big as LOTR into one movie. Too much, right? I can't wait to see what the Director's cut is gonna add!

P.S. The soundtrack was awesome! And to whoever says that the actor that played Ozymadias sucked, put down the crack pipe! Also, Silhouette was uuber hot!

I agree with those comments about the soundtrack, though for different reasons. I loved the songs, but each time they played I was pulled out of the movie - I noticed I was sitting in a theatre. If you get me, doesn't matter if you don't it's just a personal thing.

I saw this move twice. The first time that I went to it was with a bunch of people who had little prior knowledge of the watchmen. Sure I had to explain a lot to them, over all they liked movie. The second time i went to see it the movie I saw it with people who have read the book at least once. All of our opinions on the movie where the same AWESOME. It think that snyder couldn't have done a better job making thing movie. Everything came together perfectly. The choice of actors, production, ETC. I do however think that i have to agree with them to an extent. I don't think this will do as good at the box office as the xmen movie but thats b/c it doesn't have a wider fan base. But the sound track was amazing. It's the only thing i have listened to on my zune since last friday night!!! I also will be buying whatever special Blu ray release they have of this movie.

I agree with Bryon- this is definitely a movie that needs to be seen more than once. There's so much going on that it's hard to catch everything. He's also right about the terrible and distracting makeup job on Nixon.

The first time I saw the movie, I was looking for how closely the story followed the book and just taking in the general "feel" of the film. I plan to go see it again soon, this time looking for more of the subtleties in the background- the little things most people miss on a first viewing of a movie that really enhance the overall experience.

As for the music, I loved it. The songs chosen really reflected the action going on at the time and enhanced it, as good music should. 99 Luftballoons was a little goofy, but it fit the scene and brought a little needed levity to it. Nice mix of contemporary 80's music with some of the classics quoted in the book.

im pretty sure the Nixon makeup was intentionally cartoonish to highlight the satiracle elements of the story. I dont know if any of you are familiar with Kubricks Dr Strangelove but the room in which Nixon and his cronies sit is exactly like the War Room from that movie.

I like to first start off by saying I have never read the book and really liked this movie. It's very different playing tug-of-war both politically and morally. But I know one thing for sure is Rorschach made this movie. Everything about his character from his wardrobe to his attitude. He's not the typical flawless superhero who is 200lbs. ripped muscle with good looks. He pulls no punches. You would look at him on the street and wouldn't even take a second glance. Which makes him very unique and interesting in my book. There are many things I could discuss about this movie(good & bad but mostly good). And I would definetly see it again. One last thing I would like to add is I actually loved the soundtrack. To me it fit perfectly.
