AGATHA ALL ALONG Promo Offers Our Biggest Hint Yet About The Identity Of Joe Locke's "Teen"

A newly released promo for Agatha All Along has offered perhaps our biggest hint yet about who Joe Locke's "Teen" really is in the upcoming WandaVision sequel. We also have new comments from the cast...

The review embargo for Agatha All Along lifts this evening and we'll be bringing you our verdict on the first four episodes soon (you'll want to check back here at 6pm PT/9pm ET).

In the meantime, a new promo for the Disney+ series has just dropped which features some early praise from critics - presumably based on social media or post-screening reactions - and our biggest hint yet at the identity of Joe Locke's Teen.

As you can see below, his unnamed character is shown powering up in a blue pentagram almost exactly like the one Billy Kaplan/Wiccan uses in the comic books.

On the page, Billy is openly gay and will be portrayed as such in the MCU. Sasheer Zamata, who plays Jennifer Kale, recently talked to Variety about Agatha All Along's LGBTQ representation, saying she agrees with the description of the show being "the gayest project Marvel has ever done."

"You'll see when you watch. Witches are queer, inherently, just because we are outcasts and set aside for many reasons. This show shows a really good representation of different types of people and that we can all use the power we have within to go forward and be great."

Locke, who plays Teen, added, "It’s got many layers and gay is one of them. That’s one of the great things about the show. Teen is a queer guy on the show, but it’s not the driving force, which I think is really great. It’s really nice to just have these positive queer characters."

It's possible everything we've seen of Locke's character is a misdirect and he won't be revealed as Billy after all. That would arguably be a mistake on Marvel Studios' part, though there are other exciting possibilities from the comics (Nicholas Scratch, perhaps).

Check out that new promo for Agatha All Along in the X post below.

In Agatha All Along, the infamous Agatha Harkness finds herself down and out of power after a suspicious goth Teen helps break her free from a distorted spell. Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches' Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing.

Together, Agatha and this mysterious Teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down The Road.

The series stars Kathryn Hahn, Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, Paul Adelstein, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili, with Debra Jo Rupp, with Patti LuPone, and Aubrey Plaza.

The executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Mary Livanos and Jac Schaeffer, who is also the head writer and directed three episodes. Rachel Goldberg and Gandja Monteiro each direct three episodes of the original live-action series.

Agatha All Along premieres on September 18 at 6pm PT/9pm ET, with the first two episodes, exclusively on Disney+.

I’m gonna check out the series but also getting a bad feeling with the review embargo. Doesn’t scream confidence to me.

@regularmovieguy - yep. First episode taste test for me.

@regularmovieguy - I am guessing that has to do more with Disney attempting to squash alleged review-bombing a week+ before the show drops.

I don’t think it matters. I’m guessing this show comes and goes without much viewing attention but we’ll see.

I’m interested in the spooky vibes so I’ll give it a shot for sure.

@thedrudo - That and may want to minimise lead time some may have to deep dive into clues and theories if showing 4 episodes to 'critics' not just the two we are getting tonight when some of those are likely youtubers and article writers like those here and other such nerd sites.

Whilst here, haven't seen anyone post this let alone included in an article...

Im so sick of them thinking who a person choose to have sexual relations with is just so important. It is so dumb. I like orange flavored food and drinks. I want representation and put in shows and movies. Wonder how much poop they will rub on each other.

Sounds like being pro-life is important to your identity.

You'd think Disney would learn after The Acolyte!
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 9/18/2024, 10:07 AM
@CaptainDC - That is akin to saying learning from the first Ang Lee Hulk film and never doing another Hulk film however.

There are more than enough huge flops (mostly with white male leads as the vast majority of films and shows still have white male leads) without all the aspects your likely to be pointing to that never negated making more of that ilk some of which were huge hits and this isn't anything like The Acolyte anyway other than it has witches in it but a completely different take on witches in a completely different genre and tone.

This is spooky fun for the spooky season, literaly the perfect vehicle for all things witchcraft with musical elements, and we don't yet know for sure if it is good or not but enough there in the trailers if into typical Halloween targeted fun family shows then it seems solid. If your not into that sort of stuff why even check in on articles for it at this point?

As a last aside however, this show was completed before Acolyte even premiered so...

@Apophis71 - Exactly. It’s not like they cranked out this show in the weeks after Acolyte got canned.

We truly will have no clue what the MCU’s future looks like for years because they have so many projects in the pipeline that haven’t been released.

I’d say the fresh start begins with F4?
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 9/18/2024, 11:19 AM
@thedrudo - Certainly don't think we will know for sure how things have changed tac till the next film at least but F4 is the biggest test as one that wasn't started at all until after the shakeup. In terms of shows going back to the drawing board and reshooting post strikes means DD should give us clues even if greenlit before changes at the top but still have Iron Heart to come that was filmed a good while back thus could have issues related to their past direction during the quantity over quality era.

They act like they want respect and to be taken serious but then take a popular gay character and turned him into a stereotype. Dudes going to be as gay as Daredevils costume designer

@Matchesz - So a flamboyant gay man doesn't deserve respect and can't be taken seriously? Y'all out here wilding with your prejudices.

@Matchesz - flamboyant gay characters exist Billy doesn't even seem stereotypically feminine either , he seems more in vain with Joe's Heartstopper character

So 2 Disney+ shows in a row that’s focusing on lesbian witches. That’ll make the old single cat ladies happy.

Wiccan is gay in the comics and has been gay for a long time. I see no issue with this. However, turning Iceman gay when he’s never been gay before or had gay tendencies is a problem.
twistedcastles
twistedcastles - 9/18/2024, 5:25 PM
@Order66 - I think with Iceman

The problem is they didn't go into his story change well enough

His story can canonically be seen as one about a repressed gay person who realises who they are and comes out later
Because of X-Men overall themes the changes to Bobby work on paper

There are lots of gay men who had that aha moment later some even years into their heterosexual marriages in real life, there are lots of YouTube interviews of older gay men talking about this

There is no such thing as gay tendencies since gay people come in all fonts feminine, masculine, in between e.t.c...

So a gay man can look like anything

Including a person who felt they where straight and dated and slept with lots of women, some gay man can easily sleep with women some can't
So that isn't even a marker of sexuality sometime
It's why I feel the gay demo statistics can never be accurate especially with some people being bi and pansexual and in straight relationships and marriages
