Marvel Studios has expanded the MCU at a rate of knots since the launch of Disney+, and WandaVision breakout star Kathryn Hahn is among the supporting characters getting their own show. The villainous witch will return in Agatha: Coven of Chaos, though even as the impressive cast comes together, we still don't really know what to expect from this one.

When we last saw Agatha, she had been defeated by the Scarlet Witch and left trapped inside her own mind in Westview.

Many fans believe we'll see Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff free Agatha from her prison, seeking out her help for what could be a loose adaptation of Avengers: The Children's Crusade. That would be fun, though it might be best to temper expectations just in case this is a simple origin story or spin-off adventure for the villain!

Regardless, The Illuminerdi has shared some new details on the show, revealing that Jac Schaeffer (Black Widow) will step behind the camera to direct at least one episode. Gandja Monteiro (Wednesday) will do the same, though we're assuming this means that there are still multiple filmmakers yet to sign up for Agatha: Coven of Chaos.

Why? Well, it's reportedly going to consist of nine episodes, making it the longest MCU series alongside WandaVision and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. This likely means we can expect shorter runtimes for each instalment, though there's still a lot that can be done across nine weeks.

With it looking like we'll see an older Billy Maximoff/Wiccan in the show, there's a good chance Agatha: Coven of Chaos will be a very important chapter in the wider MCU mythos. Throw in the fact that Sacha Baron Cohen is set to play Mephisto in Ironheart, and we'd be shocked if he doesn't somehow come into play here as well.

It seems that, as well as embracing monsters, the MCU's future is about to get a whole lot more magical too.

Agatha: Coven of Choas will premiere on Disney+ Winter 2023/2024.

She gets her own show ?? This is part of a larger problem with Marvel now. They’re trying to expand the world but saturating the audience with stuff like this. So people want this ?

@Supercat6376 - time will tell. Maybe people that take the time to comment on Comicbook movie websites don't want this, but they are only a fraction of the people that are Marvel fans.

This should be good. I like how they are slowly building the Young Avengers.

Don't mind seeing Reed and Sue Richards favorite babysitter get her own show. It could eventually tie into or lead to the F.F. at some point if we are lucky.

Currently don’t care about this project unless my theory ends up correct and this is actually WandaVision Season 2 in disguise.

I'm really trying not to be an instant downer on this without knowing the overall MCU direction and whats going on in the inner sanctum. That being said, every single time I read about a development on this I have the same reaction of 'is this still going ahead?' I feel the same about Armour Wars. Echo too, to a point. Two very very tenuous properties/ideas that just don't seem sustainable as their own thing. I'd rather see Agatha as a special presentation, as I know they are keen to try that formula. Can a...Z-list character sustain a series? I don't know. I mean, for all Wandavision's brilliance they still really messed up the ending and it became two cackling hags just firing spells at each other in the sky and that was WITH a fantastic lead up. This whole project just feels desperate, and with the Marvel Studios clearly overstretching anyway...this just feels.....well, lame.

3... 2... 1.... 😮 Counting down the days to the AGATHA HARKNESS series! 😃

It's all anyone at work has been talking about. "AGATHA, AGATHA, AGATHA!" "When does the AGATHA series start?"... "How many episodes will AGATHA have?"... "Who do you think is going to guest-star in the AGATHA HARKNESS series???"

Yep. We hardly ever get any work done. But, this is just the tip of the iceberg my friends. I can see "AGATHA-MANIA" sweeping the globe. No amount of vaccinations or booster-shots can protect us from "AGATHA-FEVER". 😲

The legions and legions of Agatha-Maniacs around the world have been demanding an AGATHA show and their cries and demands are about to be fulfilled! Forget about the "MCU", it's about to be re-named the "ACU"! The Agatha-Comics-Universe! Agatha Harkness is about to redefine the words "brilliant" and "transformative"! This is about to become Agatha's world now. We only live in it! 🤪
