Could Marvel Studios be setting up a Thunderbolts film? I think so. Read on to find out why...

Following the release of the synopsis for the January 14 episode of Agents Of SHIELD ("Seeds"), I was immediately aware of how likely it is Marvel Studios is setting up the Marvel Cinematic Universe incarnations of The Thunderbolts. Now, this is purely speculation on my part but hear me out. Spoiler alert for those who haven't been watching Agents Of SHIELD.

The upcoming episode "Seeds" is set to center on the return of the antagonist Ian Quinn from "Assets," as well as the debut of the Iron Man villain Blizzard into the MCU. "Assets" involved Quinn kidnapping SHIELD asset Frank Hall due to his anti-gravity invention. During Hall's so-called rescue, it is revealed Hall wanted to be caught. The SHIELD mission goes wrong and Hall is transformed into the supervillain Graviton. In the comics, both Blizzard and Graviton were connected to the Thunderbolts and James Gunn, director of Guardians Of The Galaxy, has already expressed interest in doing a Thunderbolts movie. I honestly think that IF Marvel does a supervillain team-up film, it should be called Dark Avengers because it would make more money with the name AVENGERS in it and it would be easier for non-comic readers to grasp the concept that its villains being heroes since The Avengers have already gotten their film but what do you think? Could Marvel be setting up Dark Avengers or Thunderbolts? Could Ian Quinn be involved? Let me know what you think below.

I hope not unless you want a Junior Thunderbolts to fight the Interns of Shield.

If Marvel feels they Thunderbolts is a lucrative prospect then they will make a movie however that is highly unlikely seeing as they have a host of more interesting characters.

No to calling it Dark Avengers.

They need to introduce a bunch of villains on the show, or maybe some b-listers with small parts in the films so that they have more characters to use. Then have the government set up the team.

But they need to do it before DC moves forward with their long rumored Suicide Squad movie.

I'd still love a Dark Avengers film, and it could work for Avengers 3. But yeah, call them Thunderbolts, or you know...simply Avengers. Avengers 3: Dark Reign.

And having the Dark Avengers invading Asgard is just too damned awesome to NOT realize on the screen.

How about calling it Gritty Avengers? :)

If they do a Thunderbolts netflix series, it would be awesome if Punisher starts taking them out one by one.

See, if Marvel had the rights to Spider-Man we could get Norman's Thunderbolts team which could lead into Dark Avengers

@CoolioVids101 You're right. It's not like we could replace him with someone similar. There aren't any villains that could have that role right?

There have been lots of incarnations of the Thunderbolts. First, they were villains that lied o the world making it think they were heroes although then they became real heroes. Then there were the New Thunderbolts which i haven't read. Then the Osborn Thunderbolts. They were villains who could be free only if they did what Osborn said (even if sometimes what he said wasn't very nice). Then the Luke Cage Thunderbolts, that was him trying to reform supervillains although then they overthrowhim or something. And now there are those red Thunderolts that are a group of Anti-heroes.

I still feel Justin Hammer, especially after some prison time, could be a decent replacement for Norman. Give him the IP armor, a slight lack of balance as far as his mental state, and bob's your uncle.

I agree with ruadh.

Justin Hammer could become the Iron Patriot at some point and form the Dark Avengers/ Thunderbolts on the show. As long as Blizzard is the only young one. Graviton is pretty old so the notion of "Junior Thunderbolts" can leap out a window.

In the comics, Dark Avengers was the name of a super-villain team just like Thunderbolts. As a matter of fact, one Thunderbolts team became the new Dark Avengers just by changing their name to Dark Avengers. I didn't just make the name up, their a real team. Also, like the Thunderbolts, the Dark Avengers team were once headed by Norman Osborn. THAT's why it could be called Dark Avengers.
