New AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Promo Image Confirms That 'Grant Ward' Has Become 'SPOILER'

Just in case you missed the original rumor we'll post this as a 'SPOILER'. Marvel has officially confirmed to Nerdist that Ward's body has indeed been taken over by a certain Marvel Comics supervillian...

Recently, actress Elizabeth Henstridge (Jemma Simmons) let slip that the entity that took control of Ward's lifeless body in the Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Fall finale was actually Hive: a tentacled mass of parasites that can take over and control a human host, and was created as a Hydra experiment in the comics.

Because it wasn't officially announced we had to take it as a rumor (after all there's always the chance Henstridge was mistaken), but now producer Maurissa Tancharoen has confirmed to Nerdist that Grant Ward has indeed become the Marvel villain.

"[Hive] is going to have its own unique twist and be very different from what fans have seen so far," she explained. "We will see similarities that pay homage to the original character, but fans will see that Hive is taking an exciting new direction in the world of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.IE.L.D.”

Are you looking forward to seeing Brett Dalton bring life to a very different kind of antagonist for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? The show returns on Tuesday, March 8 at 9/8c on ABC.

@FearTheLiving - this is better than the first season of Gotham. But S2 is better than SHEILD

@IkeHatesMike - Season 2 of Gotham is a complete joke. Agents of SHIELD has been moving the character progression, story, and stakes forward in a logical sense since the end of season 1 moving forward with the first season establishing the characters.

Gotham feels like a parody of Batman lore with super over the top acting and plot lines. The only good thing I can point out in that show was Bruce playing Silver that was the best scene in the entire series.

@FearTheLiving - SHIELD has wooden acting by most (Save the actress who plays Daisy). It's trying to much to be connected and they're using it to set up Inhumans, but not everybody who will see Inhumans will watch SHEILD. Gotham at least has decent acting. They're not using it to tell us the Batman origin again. They're trying to tell new stories most people haven't seen before. Using people the audience is new to (Firefly, Hugo Strange, Silver.)
FearTheLiving
FearTheLiving - 3/2/2016, 9:38 AM
@IkeHatesMike - The acting is no where near as bad as the DC shows. Take a look at Amell dude can't act worth a damn and LoT is laughably bad in the acting department.

Well it is connected so there is no trying it's apart of the MCU. As for not everybody who watches Inhumans will watch SHIELD what's your point? Not everybody who watches BvS will watch Suicide Squad. Not to mention Inhumans is a species of people they don't have to be remotely connected for people to understand either the movie or the show.

Well then they shouldn't have Bruce in it now should they? Especially when he takes up a major chunk of the screen time. Not to mention having all of Batman's villains before Batman is ridicules. Not to mention if the characters you want to focus on that's not Batman and is instead Fish Mooney you know your show has problems. The only thing Gotham is good at being is a campy imitation of Bat lore.

@FearTheLiving - they're trying to establish the Inhumans in shield but the people who see Inhumans and not watch shield will be questioning why we had never heard of them before. They'll be confused. Gotham is attempting to give people new stories and they are spending less time with Bruce. And Grant is an amazing actor. Gotham is improving there is no doubt about that. SHIELD is improving too. Gotham is just improving a little slower than SHIELD because SHEILD has a group people BTS that are involved in the MCU. And Gotham is its own thing. It's not trying to have everything be connected. It's just making its own stories and characters to keep things original, and are using some familiar characters to keep people coming back as they are given stories that are original and interesting.

IkeHatesMike - 3/2/2016, 10:16 AM
@IkeHatesMike - Grant as in Grant Gustin. Of course
FearTheLiving
FearTheLiving - 3/2/2016, 8:09 PM
@IkeHatesMike - The movie will most likely be dealing with the Royal Inhuman family and recap what Inhumans are. It's not a problem for either property. As to why they never heard of them before well they didn't happen until after AOU (at least in a widespread thing) and Ant-Man was a very focused story. I imagine Civil War will probably mention the growing amount of super powered people increasing alluding to the Inhumans. Given that Inhumans (with powers) are made and not blossom until puberty like mutants they're a lot easier to explain why we haven't seen them.

Not really the focal points are Penguin, Bruce, and Gordon, and it's only "improving" by just fully embracing the campyness of the entire thing and treating it as a complete joke. (Maniacs and the Dominatrix are prime examples)

As for Gran Gustin he's one of the better actors but I wouldn't go so far as to say amazing it's just a lot more noticeable because the cast around him isn't all that good (albeit better than Arrow and LoT cast). I will say Gotham has better actor generally then those shows but I wouldn't say they're better then the AOS cast.

As for Gotham being disconnected I'm fine with that it's the complete retool of the Bat lore that I can't stand and the complete on the nose references and over dramatic plots. "Don't call me Selina call me cat." If they did what I thought they were gonna do which is follow James Gordon through his life jumping years to points where he's dealing with these guys on his own I would have been way more open to the idea, but right now it's literally "Hey who can we just shove into this show that has any sort of name recognition even if we're going to change them completely?"
IkeHatesMike
IkeHatesMike - 3/2/2016, 8:33 PM
@FearTheLiving
Nobody calls her Cat.
Like.
At all.
That was part of the Pilot and I haven't heard anybody call her that since. 'cept for Gordon a couple of times. As for Gordon, they are giving him more to do and focusing more now on him going out and catching the bad guys. Bruce is in there. But there showing more of how he got the detective side of himself, whereas the movies have been focusing on the Martial Arts aspect. Which I think is great. If you stopped watching long enough to forget what happened in season one (But being honest. We all have.) and then coming back a few months after season 2 has ended and start watching it from the beginning while pretending that Season two is the start of the series I can garuntee that you will have a much better time with the show. I'll probably watch SHEILD during summer when I have nothing to do and appreciate it more. But in my opinion SHIELD is being overshadowed by the better shows that I'm watching in my opinion, like Flash, Daredevil, Castle, and Lucifer (maybe). And that is making it seem like a crummy show. Gothams getting better at being campy when campy is due, like a little after a seriously dark scene.

Gotham in my opinion is just a overall better show, with better acting, better characters, and better stories to tell.
FearTheLiving
FearTheLiving - 3/3/2016, 1:33 AM
@IkeHatesMike - Maybe but that's a direct line from the show straight from Selina and it's not the first on the nose line the show has done sense.

I've been caught up with pretty much all the comic books shows. (Except for this week I haven't watched like any except the Agent Carter season finale)

And I disagree entirely about Gotham telling better stories and better acting. What makes them better stories then AOS? AOS it's directly tying in with them and dealing with the exact type of enemies they face in the comics (Hydra). Gotham is villain of the week for the most part and the main villain now isn't even against Gordon all that much he has a vendetta against the Wayne's. Agents of SHIELD is not only introducing something that's important for the shows world it's introducing something that is changing the entire MCU with the Inhumans. You want to say you prefer Gotham's type of stories that's perfectly fine but better stories? I don't see that at all.

Man does he looks creepy. Hopefully he goes fully tentacles and monstrous...but I wouldn't count the AoS crews on that. These guys aren't famous for potraying something like that, though Lash does looks great and fits his persona.
