Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D has divided fans as of late and taken hits from a lot of critics to the point of looking like a one season disaster. However, now in to the second half of the first season, things are starting to look up for the show. The website tvbythenumbers.com have published their ABC renewal predictions and Marvel are looking good.
The ratings, which take into account viewership and episode ratings, suggest that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is ABC's second most popular show, falling just shy of Modern Family. The site also predicts that the next series of the show will be ordered by ABC executives by May 2014.

What do you think of the news? Should Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D be renewed? Sign off your thoughts on the matter below!

Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films, as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson's team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage; Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), expert pilot and martial artist; Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), brilliant engineer; and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker, Skye (Chloe Bennet).

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel’s first television series, is from executive producers Joss Whedon (Marvel's The Avengers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, who co-wrote the pilot (Dollhouse, Dr.Horrible's Sing-Along Blog). Jeffrey Bell (Angel, Alias) and Jeph Loeb (Smallville, Lost, Heroes) also serve as executive producers. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television

I think we all knew it was going to get a season 2. And, every episode except last night's has been hella weak. But if they can keep up what they did last night, I'll happily watch it.

This was pretty much a given, but I am glad that this show is doing so well

When its good its good, when its bad its poorly written and over the top cheesy. So many shows have these problems starting out, Arrow was painful to watch when it first started and now I think its brilliant.

I'm just glad that the people behind Shield are not taking their renewal for granted. You can tell that by the increased quality and stakes of the show.

Should it be renewed???

Season 2 is most likely scripted and in pre-pre-production by now.

AoS year 2 will fill the gap from TWS to A2.

The team will confront Hydra/Zodiac/AIM and drop easter eggs about "The Twins", Ultron, Pym, and Netflix characters.

This show has shown the same trends as the CW's Arrow. The first half of the first season are full of growing pains, trying to find a good balance between the comics and "reality", and simply developing the characters. Now that the characters are established, they can get into the meat of what they intend to do with the series. Each episode just seems to get better and better. Here's to hoping Agents of Shield and Arrow both continue to delve deeper and deeper into the comics lore of their respective franchises.

LOL 'Somebody' is not gonna be happy about this ;) Also, it was a given the show will be renewed for a second season. It's been great so far. Can't wait for the next episode.

Of course it's gonna get a season 2. Number 1 new show in the 18-49yr old demo. There was never a doubt.

And I for one, am extremely thankful for an AoS article not written by Josh "I love Arrow" Wilding.

Last nights episode was incredible. For me, the best episode of TV since the Dexter finale. (But I don't watch GoT, TWD, or Breaking Bad, so alot of people will disagree).

I'm very much looking forward to the rest of this season. Deathlok is gonna kick some serious ass, and the Clairvoyant and Skye reveals should be awesome.

Avengers 2 in the summer of 2015 right? I think that they can give 3 million an episode for 26 episodes and call that $78 million a marketing cost that they will get back IF they use the show as a background bridge between all the MCU movies. This is a cross-media initiative. They also have the Netflix investment.

After that editorial you wrote, I would say you enjoying last night's episode is the biggest piece of proof as to the improvement in feelings towards AoS.

Of course it was going to get renewed. I don't think that's in doubt. I've had my issues with the show, but I acknowledge that it's improved tremendously. But I've also stuck with it cause I saw potential. I think once the clairvoyant is revealed and they put Coulson's resurrection to bed things are really going to get rolling. Either way I'll be there watching.

I always knew there was gonna be season 2! SpoilerTV makes a renewal/cancellation table and updates it every week. AoS has always been in the green zone! So happy for the show! :)))

And it would be wonderful if the Twins make a cameo!

It should be renewed. While some of the shows have been weak, the acting has been good and things look like they are picking up.

It would be awesome if the show lasts as long as SMALLVILLE -- a show I admit I quit on after the first 4 episodes. I guess that earlier show eventually found its groove because it did, what, 10 seasons?!

TRACKS was a great episode, just got done watching it on Hulu.
Even if every other episode could be this good the show's ratings will just keep going up.

I feel as though everyone is making a huge deal about "Deathlok". He looked fantastic on the show last night which is exciting, but until all the talk of him appearing on AoS I'd never heard of him. Is he a hidden gem in the marvel universe or what?
MercwithMouth
MercwithMouth - 2/5/2014, 12:25 PM
@Logan

Don't feel bad, I knew nothing about Deathlok either, all though I had heard of him. It's a great character for AoS too, since there's been 3 (I believe) different Deathloks in the comics, they were able to give him a different name and keep the storyline a secret until they wanted to show it.
WYLEEJAY
WYLEEJAY - 2/5/2014, 12:27 PM
Unfortunately most people are only aware of characters that got cartoons in the nineties or mentioned in a movie before. No Deathlok isnt one of the most widely recognized or popular characters, because he hasnt had a chance to shine before a general audience. Now he will. I would say hes maybe a D lister at the most. Watch it go up now.

@logan deathlok I the most favourite marvel comic character which no body thought could be in a love action format...hence no particular mention around cbm
