THIS ARTICLE WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM THE LATEST EPISODE OF AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.!

I'm going to make this short, because I don't have a lot of time to write this article.  In the season finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, we get our first look at Skye's father.  From behind, we see a man covered in blood, sitting in a tub, which is most likely filled with that blood.  This got me thinking, could Skye be a vampire?  If so, and if she's one from the comics, which one is she?

(not actual photo of Skye's father)

Lilith Drake:

Lilith is the daughter of Dracula and Zofia, born after the arranged marriage set by Dracula's father.  After Dracula's father's death, a year after the birth of Lilith, he cast Zofia out and Lilith was put in the care of a gypsy named Gretchin.  Lilith grew up hating her father, now a vampire; he attacked the gypsy village and killed Gretchin's son Arini and in retailiation she casted a spell on Lilith turning her into a vampire without some of the normal weakness other vampires have.  Unlike normal vampires she's a daywalker and she can mesmerize humans with just a gaze.

While Lilith's origin doesn't line up exactly with Skyes, there are some similarities such as:  A father that's a monster and likes blood, being raised in a village that was attacked by her father(and mother in Skye's origin), They are both monsters themselve, just like their father, and both have their ways of mesmerizing people(Skye was Ward's main weakness, she even had Fitz wanting her, Coulson ended up forming a fatherly bond with her, and she even got May and Simmons to like her).  If Skye is a vampire, the reason for her being able to go out in the sunlight could be because the spell(if they go with it being a spell) that made her vampire, allowed her to be a daywalker like Lilith.

So what do you think?  Let me know below!

I don't think it's Lilith however assuming it is her, it could be a good way to introduce Blade now that Marvel has the rights back to him.

Another theory I had was Skye and Reina are members of the Syren Sect. A group of female vampires that mesmerize humans.

Probably not, but cool theory.

@Omega I had the same feeling when I saw that end scene for a few reasons.
1. It had a very oriental atmosphere
2. Last episode it was mentioned that Skye's parents were based in China
3. The man looked similar to Mandarin
4. It sounded as if he had some clunky rings on his fingers

My first thought was the Mandarin (the supposedly real Mandarin, not Killian). But the fact that he seemed to be in such horrible and bloody shape, does possibly lend credence to Killian. But I'd prefer Killian stay dead. We've seen enough resurrections already.

I really like the idea of her bring Drake, though, so long as they avoid the use of "vampires," and instead do something a little more creative, while keeping faithful to the root of her story.

If The Mandarin is her father, she could be Sasha Hammer, if she's someone from the comics.

Good theory but I don't think she's a vampire. However it would be great for the future. Dr. Strange has vampire enemies.

@Pheezmatic He actually turned into a more comic accurate Agent Garrett, which sort of sadden me that they killed him seconds after the transformation. At least, since they decided to kill him, they let him become more like the cyborg he is in the comics.

I can see them Maybe saying how garret isn't dead because that gun he used just scrambles somebody's atoms and particles but they eventually gather back together. It's a stretch but you never know. I got sort of that Red Skull feeling after i saw him disintegrate.

I think Skye's father is the Mandarin. The real one was introduced already in almost the same style in the Iron Man Prelude:

Thanks for the feedback guy, yall have a lot of great theory as well, I just hate that we have to wait till season 2 to get some answers.

@deth
YES! I change my thoughts...I think Skye is part of some Inhuman/Kree connection...gotta be!

...who knows? I wonder if they even know....

And Yea Oswalt was a welcome addition to the show...same with Paxton, and TRIPP!! "I BRING THE NOIZE AND THE FUNK WHEREVER I GO.." ......classic. Great additions.

Only performance I wasn't completely engaged with was the Mike Peterson/Deathlok character...but letting him free at the end of the finale was nice...I'd like to see where they go with that.

@Nom
Right!?
Hell no to the vampires...

not that the theory isn't fun and cool to think about, just that the MCU looks to have been moving in a completely different direction. I'd be really surprised and disappointed if thats how they wanted to play it even simply because it would make Marvel look like their jumping on some sort of Vampire trend. Yea. NO ty.

It just seemed like the MCU was more obviously going in the cosmic, technological as well as magical route.

I think if they wanted to go the vampire route, they would keep it for more of a supernatural Midnight Sons, Blade, Ghost Rider, Morbius, Doc Strizzy kind of thing (which I have a feeling they're working on a plan for).

@Nomis a good portion of the Marvel Universe are vampires and a lot of them would be cool to adapt on film or tv. Also Whedon is a vampire genius, and with him having a hand on the show, he could do the character(s) justice, and help take the bad taste out of everyone's mouths caused by Hollywood's vampire fad.

@dethpillow

The show sacrificed logic for a joke. It's up to you whether or not the joke was worth it.

I'm finding myself consistently on the opposite side of this show as the majority. I enjoyed it more as a harmless, cornfest than as the aftermath of TWS. I also felt Paxton's smirking swagger made for one of the worst villains I can think of. The best moments were the two bad guys getting their comeuppance. Garret getting obliterated, and Ward being nailed. But still not sure I want to stick around for next season.

Either way, I'd bet serious cash it wasn't any Mandarin, Killian etc.Just like the Clairvoyant being Garret rather than Zola, Skye's father is going to be an in-house character. Someone created for the show, and only the show.

Yeah after Oswalt's scene, my wife asked if that part made me happy at least as I'm a fan of his. I just shrugged. I have gotten too apathetic about this show. She was even trying to spark a nerdout, bless her, by trying to get me to speculate if Fitz is going to become someone from the comics. I just shrugged. she keeps asking if I think Skye and Ward will be Ms Marvel and "Mr Marvel". It's really cute when she tries to nerd.

@Nomis if they made a Buffy or Angel film, would you watch it? Well if you are a fan of the shows, you probably would even with the overuse of vamps in entertainment today. Why? Because the characters and premise of the movie were already established beforehand in a well manner, such as the vamps in the MU. You're letting this fad cloud your mind. They wouldn't be jumping on any bandwagon by adapting them.

I agree that vampires are overdone. In a world ripe with superpowers, why go with something others shows already did? This is still a show and it needs to carry an audience. It doesn't make sense creatively, or in a business sense. The only evidence is also the blood. No idea if it's his, someone else's, etc. Just blood.
