ECHO: New Details About Marvel Spotlight Series Revealed Including A Big Daredevil And Jessica Jones Update

More rumoured details about Marvel Studios' plans for Echo have been revealed, including how much of the Man Without Fear we'll see and whether Jessica Jones is still expected to make an appearance...

The narrative surrounding Echo has changed a great deal since the first trailer for the Marvel Spotlight series was released. However, for anyone expecting it to be Daredevil's series as much as it is Maya Lopez's, it may be wise to temper expectations.

According to some new rumours doing the rounds on social media, the Man Without Fear will simply make a cameo appearance to establish his and Wilson Fisk's place in a corner of the MCU which hasn't been explored before now.

Talking of The Kingpin, all signs point to Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk being a crucial part of Echo as he attempts to shape her into someone who uses her rage as fuel the same way he does. She turned her back on him in the most violent way possible in Hawkeye but the trailer strongly hinted that the Kingpin of Crime isn't done with her yet.

Echo is expected to be largely standalone, though we'd be shocked if she doesn't show up in Daredevil: Born Again (unless the nature of this series is to just have her exist on the fringes of the MCU, leaving Marvel Studios to revisit the character if and when they choose). Another character we're expecting to see there - and someone who was once rumoured to appear in this series - is Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones.

Unfortunately, it sounds like plans for the P.I. in Echo were scrapped some time ago, so here's hoping we get a Defenders reunion when Matt Murdock returns to our screens in his series.

Check out these new Echo rumours below.

The five-episode streaming event spotlights Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) as she is pursued by Wilson Fisk's (Vincent D'Onofrio) criminal empire. When the journey brings her home, she must confront her own family and legacy.

Echo also stars Chaske Spencer (Wild IndianThe English), Graham Greene (1883Goliath), Tantoo Cardinal (Killers of the Flower MoonStumptown), Devery Jacobs (FX's Reservation DogsAmerican Gods), Zahn McClarnon (Dark Winds, FX's Reservation Dogs), Cody Lightning (Hey, Viktor!Four Sheets to the Wind) and Vincent D’Onofrio (HawkeyeGodfather of Harlem).

The series is directed by Sydney Freeland (Navajo) and Catriona McKenzie (Gunaikurnai).

All five episodes of Echo will premiere on Disney+ and Hulu on January 10.

Must admit the trailer was a bit better than I thought it would be. Had more of a Marvel Netflix vibe rather than the usual Disney+ feel to it, at least to me. Interested to see how it all plays out.

@dragon316 - Of course you can like or dislike whatever you want, it doesn't bother me like it does some users in here.

I was just making a joke out of the situation.

Wasn't it originally rumoured, that when we see Matt in this show he was on a mission to find Jessica?

Netflix Jessica Jones Season 1 was bloody good, I think mainly for The Purple Man but still a very good show.

The only thing they can do to save this travesty, is jettison echo and Agatha, never should have been made. Marvels release only on max and then go back to drawing board, bring back original avengers and tell good, grounded stories, no slapstick comedy, all revolves around the avengers and bring in the ff4 and xmen. Listen to fans and stay in canon.

@cubichy - Putting aside that every fan is would give different "advice", if Marvel would have listened them, RDjr. wouldn't have been allowed to revamp Tony Stark around his charisma, Chris Evans wouldn't have been cast as Captain America, Black Widow and Hawkeye wouldn't have been founding members, Guardians of the Galaxy wouldn't have gotten a movie (or very least Gunn wouldn't have been allowed to inject them with his style of quirkiness) etc.

@FinnishDude - Well, those are all things that shouldn't have happened. We'll never know how successful the alternatives would have been.
FinnishDude
FinnishDude - 11/6/2023, 11:50 PM
@Corruptor - Why? Some of the best movies ever made are in-accurate adaptations of a pre-existing source material.

Going outside of MCU, you wouldn't get Stanley Kubrick's Shining, Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park, Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy or Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight by "listening the fans"

Corruptor - 11/15/2023, 7:33 PM
@FinnishDude - More to do with respecting the source material, that may or may not coincide with listening to the fans.
I'm just sore about how they effed up the whole cosmic side of things, I know it's just a movie, and I know I'm old and it isn't really made for me.
And also I said yesterday I'd play nice because Iman said we were toxic, and I like her. But bloody hell, it was a once in a lifetime chance to adapt something I loved since the mid-70s.
So, I think I'll carry on being toxic about it sorry Iman (still like you though).
The personal stuff isn't so good, like actresses toenails, we should leave them alone. But plot/story, fair game.

I really hope they get rid of that yellow suit on DD. I know it has comic roots, but it was always the lesser look for him imo.

Thinking of Echo and DD hanging out reminds me of this classic comedy.
