THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER: Emily VanCamp Shocked Sharon Carter Wasn't Pardoned Like Other Characters

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier star Emily VanCamp has admitted to being shocked by the decision to have Sharon Carter on the run despite other characters, like Sam and Bucky, having earned pardons...

We last saw Emily VanCamp's Sharon Carter in Captain America: Civil War when she stole Steve Rogers' shield (and Sam Wilson's wings), and aided in the Winter Soldier's escape from custody. A lot of years have passed since then, but as we've learned in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, she remains on the wanted list.

This is despite the fact that both Sam and Bucky have been pardoned (alongside the rest of the Secret Avengers, we're assuming) for their role in breaking the Sokovia Accords.

Why is Sharon different? As VanCamp explains to Deadline, she'd like to know the answer to that question herself!

"She has not had the easiest of times. Even though she’s thriving in this environment, it’s not what she would have wanted. She’s very much seeking that pardon, that’s where we find her," the actress explains. "Based on what some of these other characters have done, and have successfully been pardoned [for], I think it’s shocking she’s still on the run, that she’s still this fugitive, living in Madripoor, dealing in stolen art. It seems shocking to me, and equally shocking to her."

Given some of Sharon's shadier actions in last Friday's episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, many fans are convinced that she's secretly the Power Broker. VanCamp knows better than to confirm or deny anything when it comes to Marvel Studios.

"I can’t talk about anything," she tells the trade, "but I do love the theories swirling around."

What do you think will comes next for Sharon Carter in the MCU?

She's a small cog in a big machine.

And I always thought the small people suffering the consequences makes sense.

@BlackBeltJones - She's a small cog, but just think. If she didn't help Cap, Bucky, and Falcon in Civil War then they would most likely gotteb arrested and not been around to help save the world from Thanos.

For what it's worth, I love her life now. I wouldn't want to return.

There's more to this for sure. She's working with someone. I don't know if it's CIA or Nicolas J but someone.

I really hope she doesn't end up being a bad guy as a twist. It would really contradict her character in the Captain America movies. Love the show though.
