THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER: Kevin Feige On Show's Impact On The MCU And "World-Shattering" Fan Theories

Talking during the global press conference for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige addressed the show's place in the MCU and commented on those big fan theories...

Disney held a press conference for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier today, and a lot of great questions were put to those in attendance (Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, director Kari Skogland, writer Malcolm Spellman, and stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan).

One of them saw Feige asked about how important this series is to the wider plan for the MCU, and it felt a lot like he was thinking about the response to WandaVision in the way he answered that.

"Well, I mean, the characters of Bucky and Sam are essential to the MCU. As they change, evolve, and whatever they go through, [they] could and should have a big impact on the MCU" he started. "The answer is 'yes,' [but] it's hard to navigate every fan theory that's going to pop up."

"Not everything is world-shattering to the point of bringing in some giant element of the comics that's never been there before or smashing the Earth into two planets. There can be character shifts that have massive implications for the stories we're telling in the future, so it'll be a combination. And the end of the show does split the Earth in two; I forgot, so don't print that. That's a spoiler."

Oops, sorry about that, Kevin!

Anyway, the gist here is that not every show will have a game-changing new villain like Mephisto or aerospace engineers who are, in fact, founding members of the Fantastic Four! This is a good way to temper expectations for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, but we're still expecting some big surprises.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier premieres on Disney+ this Friday, March 19th!

This guy [frick]ing gets it. There's no chance WandaVision was going to introduce the [frick]ing F4 and X-Men in a 9 episode arc about loss and processing grief.

It's fun to do the speculation stuff, absolutely. But we need to remember this is the start of Phase 4, a phase that will have like 10 movies and shows together in it. It's a reset. We're in Iron Man 1 territory again. Enjoy the build-up. The ride will be worth it.

Before every series now, Feige is going to come out to cheekily spread extreme spoiler theories just to tamp us down, isn't he?

Well, we kind of deserve it after what we did to Wandavision.

Idk who would expect this show to be doing anything world breaking anyway. Lethal Weapon with wings, metal arms, and super soldiers. A damn good time.

Because of its nature and what MS tried to do, WandaVision was for all intents and purposes the first -and seeing how things turned out to be, it might as well be the last time as well- where people were hella invested in trying to analizing every small detail and coming up with all sorts of theories, and most of them even made sense, can't fault people for thinking about certain shit when the Multiverse is just around the corner and they cast Evans as Quicksilver, but i read enough interviews which left a lot to be desired or at least a bad taste in my mouth but i digress...

What i mean to say is that, after Wandavision, they can chill, i doubt they'll face the same kinda backlash, i reckon people learned their lesson.
At least i hope so, i for one am done, they can surprise me all they want now.

Can't be dissapointed if you don't expect shit

P.S. Inb4 some f*cker posts that Dewey meme. :P

''And the end of the show does split the Earth in two''

No way mate, I don't believe this. The master of non-answer giving something away that sounds pretty big? Consider me sceptical.
