THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER Merchandise May Reveal New Look At Sam Wilson's Captain America Costume

Some new merchandise for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has seemingly revealed a new look at the costume Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson will don in the Disney+ series when he becomes Captain America...

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was supposed to arrive on Disney+ back in August, but when shooting was halted due to COVID-19, the series was postponed and is now heading our way sometime in 2021 (filming recently wrapped, but it's unclear where in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's timeline it needs to fall; before of after Black Widow, for example).

While John Walker will initially take over the mantle of Captain America from Steve Rogers, we've known for a long time now that the plan is for Sam Wilson to become Cap before all is said and done.

A prototype toy has already given us a glimpse at what that costume is going to look like, and now some "officially licensed Marvel Disney+" socks based on The Falcon and The Winter Soldier may have provided us with another idea of what's in store for Anthony Mackie's Avenger when he suits up.

The colour scheme is definitely a little different to what we've seen him wear as The Falcon in previous promo material for the show, though there's no sign of the stars and stripes.

It's a rather basic design, though, so the final version will almost certainly differ in a live-action setting.

What do you think about this possible "first look" at the new Captain America?

I love the character of Captain America. I love the way Falcon took over the mantle in the comics.

But I think the best thing for Falcon to do in live action is actually turn down the mantle. I want this false idea of a commercialised Captain America stepping in to kind of open Sam’s eyes, to realise there will only ever be one Captain America. And realise he can carry on the mantle of being a new leader to rally behind, but not in name - but still as Falcon.

I think that would be awesome character development for Falcon, and would make him an audience favourite in the long run. Feige’s said there’s just somethings that translate from comics that will just hinder characters stories in regards to realism... and I honestly think Falcon becoming something bigger by choosing to be Falcon would be state of the arc character development for the character.

@Se4M4NSt4ine - Especially since Steve is already back as Cap in the comics, they just need to develop Falcon more as a solo character in both mediums.

As per usual, I bet you Tony Stark makes the outfi... oh wait.

@MosquitoFarmer - You better believe Stark made an outfit for him before he died, lol

That's not from the TV show. It's an outfit that gets used for Falcon in merchandise stuff that's not specifically from the movies.

@rorywilliams - exactly, they call these the “evergreen” designs. With “evergreen” being a term to refer to characters most classic/recognizable designs.

Now personally I wouldn’t mind one bit if this design was translated to the TV show. But I’m still hoping we see some kinda red, white, and blue suit.

@Legoironman10 - like you know with most things they changed his current comic design to closely match his movie design.

But his promotional design that we see in this poster was never in the comics so they might actually adapted it to the TV show. who knows

See. It's been in use for a while and has nothing to do with the MCU.

That's not a Captain America outfit, it might be his outfit for the show but not his Captain America outfit.

You think? A pair of novelty socks won't exactly depict how Falcon will look in live action!?

Off topic, but a follow up on that odd "monolith" story from Utah.
They think this might have been the guy who designed it. Cool stuff!

Well, a few of his friends state in the article that they're not convinced it's one of his works, so it still could be aliens. 😁
