HAWKEYE Concept Art Reveals Another Unused Costume For Yelena Belova With Interesting BLACK WIDOW Throwback

Hawkeye packed a lot into its six episodes, including The Kingpin's Marvel Cinematic Universe debut and the return of Yelena Belova. That character's involvement in the Disney+ series was first teased in Black Widow's post-credits scene when Valentina Allegra de Fontaine hired Natasha Romanoff's sister to take out the man believed to be responsible for the Avenger's demise.

Yelena would soon learn that wasn't true, of course, and forgave Clint Barton after learning that Natasha sacrificed her life to save the universe.

We don't know what's next for this new Black Widow in the MCU, but something tells us she's probably going to give up being an assassin after what happened in Hawkeye. It would make sense for her to follow in Natasha's footsteps by joining The Avengers, but there are still plenty of stories to tell with Yelena before we see her line up with the rest of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

In the meantime, Marvel Studios concept artist Josh Nizzi has shared some of his early designs for Yelena's Hawkeye costume and, as you can see, it features some subtle nods to her time as a Black Widow. While Natasha wore that logo into battle after escaping the Red Room, the trauma Yelena went through while her sister was in America likely means she'd be a little more reluctant.

It's a cool costume, anyway, though we're sure Yelena's look will continue to evolve moving forward.

So...it's only a throwback because you interpreted it as yelena being unwilling to wear it again? Even though that clearly wasn't a thing in black widow, it was never mentioned anywhere, and this concept art shows it wasn't a thing behind the scenes?

I mean, I get the logic, but considering we already crossed that hurdle with Natasha maintaining the identity despite the red room, it would make sense that yelena would keep it to honor her.

I can count four Black Widow insignias on the suit, five if you count the lines on the vest. Looks to me like she's going all in on the Black Widow identity.

Anyway, think I like this suit so far. The brown gives it atleast some texture

She only needs some red and blue badges and she'd look perfect as an agent for the Empire. Idk why I'm getting Star Wars vibes.

@ElricReturns - I don’t know either maybe it’s not sci-fi looking enough be Star Wars

It would be cool if Yelena finds a weapon cache that Natasha left behind for her with a new upgraded Avengers quality Widow suit.

She also didn't wear what I have on today. Should I send pictures in?

In retrospect, its really weird that Natasha wore the emblem and nickname she was given when kidnapped and forced to be an assassin as her superhero identity.
