INHUMANS Actor Mike Moh Shares Disappointment Over Triton's Terrible, Low-Budget Costume

Despite the fact Inhumans was supposed to feature effects and costumes equivalent to those in a movie, it looked like a low-budget B-Movie, something one of the TV show's cast members has acknowledged...

Filmed with IMAX cameras, Inhumans was supposed to be a game-changing TV series boasting movie-level visual effects, sets, and costumes. However, what we were actually left with was a show which looked like a low-budget Syfy series, and the response was so bad that IMAX ultimately decided to pull the plug on their plan to start funding small screen adventures shown on their giant screens.

Cancelled after a single season, Inhumans was a high-profile embarrassment for Marvel Television, and the apparent beginning of the end for the Jeph Loeb-led unit (which is now in Kevin Feige's hands).

During a recent exchange with fans on Twitter, star Mike Moh reflected in his time as Triton. Acknowledging that they basically just painted him green, he also explained that there were "constraints" with makeup and prosthetics, so it's hard not to wonder where the money invested went.

Anyone who has read the comics will know that Moh's Triton looked very little like the version on the page, but the hope now is that the characters will be rebooted for the MCU by Marvel Studios.

I’ve still not gotten around to watching any of The Inhumans. Ike Perlmutter really did a number on Imax investors though.

@Chewtoy - more like Scott Buck

@dracula - I think the budget limitations go back to Ike.

@Chewtoy - better looking costumes wouldnt save that show

@Chewtoy - Definitely. The first non-documentary series they ever invested in, with the absolutely stellar brand of the post-Avengers Marvel attached... just to sully both companies' name for what I'm sure was a quick and hollow payday. Perlmutter is a shit-shark sucking the dignity out of any unfortunate fish unlucky enough to wander close to his shit-maw.

That said, I thought Inhumans was actually serviceable by network TV standards. If it was a part of the CW-verse, it would have likely gotten a mediocre reception, but probably picked up for a full season to work out the bugs. It took the brunt of Marvel TV's Rubber Band Effect hate-debt, and they just never recovered the shine they had in 2015.

Doubt they will give the Inhumans another shot anytime soon considering they are coming out with The Eternals and now have the X-Men. Don't really need another large group of powered people.Soonest I could see them having a reason to try again would be the late 2020's.

@dracula - They can reintroduce the inhumans when they do Fantastic Four.

@BritishMonkey - that is true, maybe the second film. Didnt the inhumans first appear in famtastic 4 comics
BritishMonkey
BritishMonkey - 5/18/2020, 10:58 AM
@dracula - They did! Same with skrulls and wakanda and Galactus and Silver Surfer.
So it wouldn't be unnatural to use FF later on to bring in the Inhumans

@BritishMonkey - Although dont you think it would make more sense to introduce them when they actually have a reason to use them, with Eternals on the way as well as the x men, is there any reason to use them right now. Like if they were to use the royal family wouldnt you want a movie

Scott Buck, the guy who ruined Marvel's streak of good tv shows, both on network television and streaming services

@tmp3 - should get him for the green hornet movie, seems like he can convincingly do action unlike the pop star they got last time

@dracula - Yeah! I remember when the news of the reboot came out, I thought about how Mike Moh would be a perfect (if obvious) fit. This is assuming they get good creatives for it, of course.

@tmp3 - plus while the Lee family hated the movies portrayal of Bruce(dont think anyone liked it) they still thought he did a great job
tmp3
tmp3 - 5/18/2020, 3:06 AM
@dracula - I mean... I was fine with the portrayal, and Enter The Dragon's one of my favorite action films ever. Cliff's a fake movie character, and he didn't even beat Lee; they both won one round each.

@tmp3 - from what ive heard the problem wasnt the fight, the problem was the portrayal of his personality, they says its very exaggerated. Although he nailed Bruce’s mannerisms

Considering how many weird looking aliens were mere backround extras on Babylon 5 over 10 years ago, Inhumans had no excuse.

And to think that this shit had some substantial budget, but heh...I'm afraid Buck spent those bucks on something else... :P
Spock0Clock
Spock0Clock - 5/18/2020, 3:15 AM
@Doomsday8888 - I'm still convinced the whole thing was an elaborate embezzlement scheme by Perlmutter. Get IMAX and ABC to both put money into the kitty, then skim a few million in the book shuffling. Maybe he even banked something by ensuring it got canceled, like the Producers.

(Except not successful.)

I really hope we get to see Inhumans on the big screen one day. Such a great group of characters. The budget among other things really killed this show. Black Bolt should be able to fight the Hulk and he was taken down by normal police officers. They shaved Medusa’s head. Crystal barely used he amazing powers. It should never have been attempted with that kind of budget. They couldn’t achieve one tenth of the scope of the Inhumans.
