The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the first two episodes of The Inhumans will debut in IMAX theaters on September 4th. It's set to be shown in over 1000 locations in 74 different countries, and the plan is for it to run for two weeks starting on Labor Day before it later reaches ABC (where additional footage will have been added to ensure fans decide to tune in and watch it all over again).

ABC Television Group president Ben Sherwood tells the trade that they're hoping to "event-ize" The Inhumans to help make it stand out in the always crowded Fall TV arena, and he seems pretty confident in its chances of success. "We think this is a quadruple win — a win for Imax, a win for Marvel, a win for ABC Studios and a win for ABC to launch a show in an innovative way and get attention.

They also go on to reiterate that the first two episodes are being shot entirely with IMAX cameras, while action scenes in the other six episodes - many of which will be set on the Moon - will also use that technology. Apparently, IMAX is paying for the first two episodes, though they also note that casting hasn't started yet. ABC meanwhile hopes that The Inhumans (which they maintain isn't replacing the planned movie) will bring new eyes to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. if it's renewed next year.

Also...The fact that even with this tv show, they will NOT acknowledge AoS, is quite dissapointing...

Ragnarok is slated for November 4th (I believe). So 10 days later this will hit theaters? Do you guys this will impact Thor's box office intake? Not to mention how many imax screens thus will take away from the movie.

@DasRouse -

"The first two of the eight-episode series — about a race of superhuman heroes (among the more popular characters in the Marvel universe) — will run for two weeks starting Labor Day 2017 before airing as part of ABC's fall lineup."

It will hit theaters on September 4th, not November 14th (which is the date the announcement was made).

@litobirdy - it's a mistake in the summary of the Hollywood Reporter article. Marvel announced the plans for the show on November 14th. It premieres on Labor Day next year.

If a TV network can do this for a show there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON WE CAN'T SEE THE BATTLE OF THE WHITE WALKERS on the las season of Game of Thrones in IMAX!!! MAKE IT HAPPEN HBO!
