I like the way she carries herself in this from what I have seen so far.

Even that stance she has in the pic looks like she is holding back some power

I wonder how they are going to address his powers. Was he born with them or get them the way he does in the comics, with a chemical spill.

@TheBeard based on the way the MCU has handled it thus far, I think he'll probably be born with them. Rather than get too deep into the cause they'll probably focus on how since he was a kid he was dangerous and how he has zero remorse or empathy.

I would go so far as to say they might leave the origin of Jessica AND Killgrave's powers vague because they are SO comicbooky. In Alias Purple Man even comments on the vague and absurdity of their origins.

As well, if they address how he got his powers, they'll address how she got hers.

And realistically, she is one of the more powerful heroes in the MCU.

It would seem she is as strong as Captain America despite being much more slight, she can jump at the very least 5 stories (the prequel comic makes it seem to be up to 10).

If her physical strength matches Caps, that would mean she is as strong or stronger than a good chunk of the Avengers (Tony, Widow, Hawkeye, Wanda, War Machine, Ant-Man), everyone currently working for SHIELD (she might match pre-cyborg Deathlok).

She can jump higher than anyone in the MCU has done on screen. Though I am sure if an Asgardian wanted to, they could match her jumps.

And she appears to have limited invunerablity/healing. In the comics she jokes about being bullet proof but has no idea if she is. In the trailer and set photos, we see her with several small cuts. Given how violent she is, one can assume that she got those wounds from the kind of blunt force trauma that would kill a normal human or she was shot and is kinda bullet proof.

If she is even kind of bullet proof, that would give her the advantage over all the Avengers except for Hulk and Thor.

The more detail given about her origins, the harder it would be to reconcile her having all that power in a universe where it is very rare.

I'd be happy with a brief reference something along the lines of 'When I was 15, my family was in a car accident, there was a chemical truck and an explosion, I woke up and 6 months had passed. My parents and my little brother were dead and I had super powers' *takes a triple shot of whiskey*.

From the flat, monotone voice-overs to the super obvious coloured lighting to the faux noir vibe, this show has all the markings of being a pretentious bore. No way will this go more than the first season.

They will address her powers for sure. It's hinted at in the latest trailer.

If you watch the trailer near the end there is a quick flash of a little girl on a monitor screen connected to some sort of electrodes.

It was very likely her and she was being studied.

Bother her and Killrgave got there powers in a similar manner and I think it would be unlikely for them not to mention it in some capacity. I suspect it would be similar to the comic book method.

Both got their powers from chemicals and a way to tie them together would probably be the chemicals being from the same manufacturer.

Neither Jones nor Killgrave will be mutants, which Marvel can't use, or Inhumans which Marvel is likely keeping separate and for the SHIELD story line. I don't think they want to tie this show into SHIELD from what they've stated. At least not yet.

Chemical accident is the likely and more practical suspect.

Maybe, but I'd say in a Universe with The Hulk, Asgardian Gods, Super Soldiers, Red Skull, immortal omnipotent Alien overlords, and people who can spit fire and regrow their own limbs, she's not that much of an oddity. I think she fits right in.

She got her abilities from a chemical accident, and Steve Rodgers got his abilities from a suped-up chemical cocktail but neither are that far removed and both seem to fit in the logic of the MCU. The unbreakable Luke Cage is about to be another to add into that mix.

Wait until we get Captain Marvel and then she's REALLY going to seem like a typical MCU hero.

Keep in mind that flash scene at the end of the trailer with the little girl hooked up to electrodes and being monitored.

That's got to be her.

That's definitely her after the coma when she got her powers.
Just like in the comics.

The actress (Elizabeth Cappuccino) is credited as 'young Jessica' and that looks like her with a shaved head so they will go into her powers and it looks like she's being studied by someone.
