Across 13 episodes in season 1, Jessica Jones ultimately found the strength to confront her tormentor and take him down for good in the season finale. However, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg promises that just because Killgrave is gone, it doesn't mean that Jessica will suddenly be cured of all of her personal demons. "
I learned from working on Dexter that you can advance the character, but you never want to cure the character. With Dexter, the moment he felt guilt or accepted that he was 'bad,' the show's over. He's no longer a sociopath. The equivalent for us would be if Jessica somehow recovered from the damage that had been done to her. People don't just heal, you don't go through that just to say, 'Oh, he got arrested, he's in jail, I'm OK now. ' That trauma is a huge part of who she is now."
Rosenberg went on to add that the coping skills Jessica used to stay away from Purple Man (drinking, fleeing her problems) will begin to crumble without his ever looming presence. She's currently in the writers room right now with the rest of her team and she says they're about halfway through the second season.
The next time Krysten Ritter is expected to don her thumbhole shirt and leather jacket armor again is in The Defenders, although it's possible she may cameo in Luke Cage later this month.

She gained her superpowers when a truck carrying radioactive material crashed into her family's car on their way home from a family vacation at Disney World. Six months after the accident, Jones awakens from a coma and discovers that she was the lone survivor and that the radioactive waste imbued her with super strength, increased durability and limited flight. JESSICA JONES SEASON 2 DEVELOPMENT: Jessica Jones season 2 was officially confirmed in January 2017. Executive prodcuer Melissa Rosenberg stated that the second season would focus on the relationship between Jones and her adoptive sister, Trish Walker. Netflix COO Ted Sarandos stated that the second season would have to wait until after The Defenders aired and wouldn't likely stream until 2018.
