We're already halfway through the first season of Legion and still don't really have any idea whether or not everything we've seen thus far has been real or just a figment of David's very vivid imagination.

Hopefully, we'll get some answers this week as David embarks on what he describes as a "fun trip" to go rescue his sister Amy. Meanwhile, Syd, Melanie, and the rest of the team continue their quest to essentially save David from himself.

Check out eight new promotional stills from "Chapter 5" below:

"Chapter 5" (Airs March 8, 10:00 pm e/p) - David faces a new threat. Written by Peter Calloway; directed by Tim Mielants.

Legion, based on the Marvel Comics by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz, is the story of David Haller (Dan Stevens) – a troubled young man who may be more than human.

Diagnosed as schizophrenic as a child, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. Now in his early 30s and institutionalized once again, David loses himself in the rhythm of the structured regimen of life in the hospital: breakfast, lunch, dinner, therapy, medications, sleep. David spends the rest of his time in companionable silence alongside his chatterbox friend Lenny (Aubrey Plaza), a fellow patient whose life-long drug and alcohol addiction has done nothing to quell her boundless optimism that her luck is about to change. The pleasant numbness of David’s routine is completely upended with the arrival of a beautiful and troubled new patient named Syd (Rachel Keller). Inexplicably drawn to one another, David and Syd share a startling encounter, after which he must confront the shocking possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees are the result of him being a mutant.

A haunted man, David escapes from the hospital and seeks shelter with his sister Amy (Katie Aselton). But Amy’s concern for her brother is trumped by her desire to protect the picture perfect suburban life she’s built for herself. Eventually, Syd guides David to Melanie Bird (Jean Smart), a nurturing but demanding therapist with a sharp mind and unconventional methods. She and her team of specialists – Ptonomy (Jeremie Harris), Kerry (Amber Midthunder) and Cary (Bill Irwin) – open David’s eyes to an extraordinary new world of possibilities.

Legion features:
Dan Stevens as David Haller
Rachel Keller as Syd Barrett
Jean Smart as Melanie
Aubrey Plaza as Lenny Busker
Jeremie Harris as Ptonomy Wallace
Amber Midthunder as Kerry Loudermilk
Katie Aselton as Amy Haller
Bill Irwin as Cary Loudermilk
Jemaine Clement as Oliver Bird

This show is so [frick]ing good, wish CW shows and Agents would shorten their seasons to 12 or 16 episodes, would make the pace better and cut out unnecessary filler.

Found out recently that the first season of Legion has a higher metacritic score than the first season of Breaking Bad and the first season of Game of Thrones.

Ignoring Apocalypse and the possible Kinerg-directed sequel, Fox is on fire.

I really hope that this version of David is actually Professor X's son. As much as I would love to see Patrick Stewart in Legion, and given the uncertainty of the time period, seeing James McAvoy in Legion would be much more interesting.

Plus, McAvoy's version of Charles was kind of a playboy in the past (First Class). It would make sense that he had a few kids running around.

@Kr08 - I think they pretty much said he is Prof. X's kid, but they'll just tease the angle of David's father. They ruled out McAvoy or Stewart showing up on screen though, budget reasons.

@Danbito - I saw the budget quotes the other day, and I think he meant that getting McAvoy or Stewart would be a crazy idea because they're movie stars. I don't think he's actually tried it and he might just think they'll say no.

@Kr08 - Possibly. Comment may have been applicable to this season only, who knows what might happen down the line. It's definitely possible for McAvoy's Xavier to be David's father

I really gotta play catch-up on this ASAP.

Sidenote: I've been having trouble telling Dan Stevens and Boyd Holbrook apart lately now that they're both in X-Men related projects (both starting with "L" and ending with "N"). Every time I see either of them I think "those two look so much alike, they should play brothers", and then I remember they already have.

So is it confirmed that Aubrey Plaza's Lenny is the yellow-eyed fat guy? The last episode pretty much threw it in our faces, but then again this is Legion and it could be that the yellow-eyed guy is pretending to be his mental version of Lenny.

@Kr08 - Lenny was the friend in the mental hospital in episode 1, other characters confirmed she existed. However, moments she appears in David's past are hallucinations of David's actual drug junkie friend, Benny. Now, whenever she appears and interacts with David, she's really an avatar for the Yellow Eyed monster guy.

This has been an interesting show so far and while I think this 1st Season is about the glitches and gaps preventing the Summerland group of finding out more about David's true past I don't think the rest are all products of his imagination. There has to be some that is real, like Walter/The Eye and Division 3 and even Melanie's husband, Oliver.

I love this show but get tired really quick with all the David beckoning. It's like Poltergeist III all over again. David.
