Marvel Studios announced today that Loki, which will star Golden Globe-winner Tom Hiddleston (Thor: Ragnarok; Avengers: Endgame) as the fan-favorite antihero. will now premiere two days earlier on June 9, with new episodes arriving every Wednesday.
This is, of course, a departure from the release schedule for both WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier as well as fellow big-budget series The Mandalorian, and could be our first indicator of the streamer's plans to alter their premiere dates as theaters continue to open across the globe.
While plot details for the miniseries are being mostly kept under wraps, the show will see the God of Mischief working for the Time Variance Authority and attempting to course correct the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline, which he may or may not have inadvertently broken when he escaped with the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame.
In addition to Hiddleston in the title role, the cast also features Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers; Zoolander) as Mobius M. Mobius as well as Gugu Mbatha-Raw (The Morning Show; Belle), Sophia Di Martino (Flowers; Yesterday), Wunmi Mosaku (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them; Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), and Academy Award-nominee Richard E. Grant (Logan; Can You Ever Forgive Me?) in undisclosed roles.
Loki will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on June 9.
