AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR's Ross Marquand Hopes To Take On The Role Of MOON KNIGHT

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has previously said that plans are in place to bring Moon Knight to the big screen but The Walking Dead's Ross Marquand has made it clear he wants to play Marc Spector!

The Walking Dead star Ross Marquand made a surprise appearance in Avengers: Infinity War where he was unrecognisable as the Red Skull. However, during a recent convention appearance, the actor revealed that there's actually another Marvel Cinematic Universe character he hopes to portray physically somewhere down the line and that's the overwhelmingly popular vigilante Moon Knight.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has promised that Moon Knight is one of many characters they're looking at bringing to the big screen in the near future and Marquand had this to say about the hero.

"Moon Knight! It’s tough because a lot of my friends have said Moon Knight is essentially just Marvel’s answer to Batman, but I don’t agree with that. With what they’ve been doing the last 15 years with the character–going into the dissociative identity disorder, really calling in to question if everything happening is all in his head, is he actually a vigilante killer or did he die in Egypt? It brings up a slew of questions, and that to me has never really been delved into in any comic book character before–the idea of, is any of this actually happening?"

Marquand would certainly be an interesting choice to play Moon Knight but who knows when he'll be brought to the big screen and what sort of actor Feige has in mind for the role. Regardless, the actor remains keen on at least being given an opportunity. "Those are such amazing questions and I don’t feel like any comic book series before or since has really tapped into that," Marquand continued. "So for me, playing a crazy superhero would be awesome. So Moon Knight, Moon Knight for sure."

It never ceases to amaze me the characters we are getting on the big screen. We are living in a golden age for comicbook fans

He's clearly knowledgeable about the character and what makes Moon Knight the intriguing figure he is.

He's unrecognizable as Red Skull so he could easily play two characters.

I'm all for this.

I think it'd be kinda weird if we get a Moon Knight movie while Daredevil remains trapped on Netflix. They're both street level heroes who occupy a similar space in the Marvel Universe, yet Daredevil is much more famous.

I guess what I'm saying is give my man Daredevil a movie! Hope they don't kill Fisk or Bullseye in Season 3.

@MrMartyMarvel - The only street level hero getting a movie for the foreseeable future is Spidey and that's because he swings both ways (PI). Moon Knight doesn't.

@MrMartyMarvel - Well Moon Knight does have a long history with the Avengers. I would say even moreso than the street level heroes. He was a West Coast Avenger and Secret Avenger. Sure he runs in to Punisher and Spidey every once in a while, but Spidey is in the MCU and could use some street level heroes to hang out with.

Also Moon Knight needs to be a billionaire with crazy tech and vehicles and fights werewolves occasionally. Netflix does not have the budget for this stuff. Thats why Danny is a hipster hobo and we only ever see one conference room and the lobby of Rand Industries.

Moon Knight fits better with the MCU.

@Magus - I wasn't at all saying that Moon Knight should be on Netflix but that Daredevil should be in the movies. If Moon Knight gets a movie then Hornhead should get one too.

It could work as both movie or (Netflix) series. Either way, Marquand seems to know about the character and is talented enough to take on the role. Make it happen marvel!

@MalseMarcel - If Marvel was going to let Netflix have any more IP this would make sense but its highly doubtful that Marvel gives Netflix anything else at this point.

Do it!
Dacci

I think he could do it. He'd probably need to bulk up a bit for him to look the part of para military mercenary. He definitely has the range to pull of multiple personalities.

I also had an idea that I know most of you will hate. Gender bent Moon Knight, with Tatiana Maslany. She'd kill it.

@Dacci - prefer they stuck to the source with the character but I have to admit if they went down that route she'd be a perfect choice

@Dacci - please, dont give them ideas

He's got pretty awesome range as an actor and as Red Skull he's unrecognisable, plus he clearly knows what makes Moon Knight tick, so I'm all for it.

I thought he did a great job as Red Skull. I'd rather he just return in that role again.

Give this guy whatever he wants, I can dig it. Especially love what he said about Moon Knight NOT being Marvel's answer to Batman. I've always thought that argument is weird, the similarities are negligible and what makes both characters great are their differences.

I'm generally opposed to whenever an actor says they want to play a character. Especially when it's clear they don't know jack about the character, & they're just trying to jump onto the bandwagon. All that said, that's clearly not the case here.

Marquand is insanely talented, & obviously knows quite a bit about Moon Knight. After all, how many actors would pick MOON KNIGHT as their #1 choice of super hero to play, unless they actually really liked the character?

I'm pretty much in favor of him in any part, so I'd be thrilled with this. Plus it'd be a nice way of rewarding him for his stellar work in Infinity War. If not Moon Knight, I hope he gets something else. He deserves better than what The Walking Dead has become.
