MS. MARVEL: Check Out One Final Batch Of Spoiler Stills From The Show's Second Episode

Ahead of Wednesday's episode of Ms. Marvel, Marvel Studios has released a fresh batch of stills from "Crushed," including a closer look at Kamala Khan's hard light powers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

We've yet to see Kamala Khan suit up in anything more than her Captain Marvel cosplay in Ms. Marvel, but last week's episode still saw the teenager test out her newfound superpowers.

While they're a far cry from her comic book counterpart's embiggening abilities, these hard light powers look pretty cool in action and aren't quite the Green Lantern ripoff some fans initially dismissed them as. How they continue to develop promises to be very interesting, and there have already been a few glimpses of just how strong the hero might become.

Also in the gallery below is a Damage Control tease as Kamala finds herself staring down what could be a terrifying new threat to the MCU's teenage superheroes. We got a taste of that in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but the organisation's role in this world continues to develop in Ms. Marvel.

The second episode was quite a bit more serious than the first after our visit to AvengerCon, and Head Writer Bisha K. Ali recently told The Wrap about her hopes to make Ant-Man podcast, "Big Me Little Me: A Scott Lang Interview," a reality down the line.

"I'm desperate to listen to this podcast and desperate to make it," she admitted. "Like, also, why shouldn’t the MCU expand into podcasting? Like fiction podcast? I mean, Paul Rudd, what's up? Let's do it. I'll write it, you just sit in a booth. It'll be a good time. I would love to hear it."

Ms. Marvel is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega fan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with super powers, right?

Joining Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel in the show are Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha. Bisha K. Ali is the show's Head Writer, while episodes were directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.

The first two episodes of Ms. Marvel are now streaming on Disney+.

I like how the episode showed that heroism isn't just the will to help others, you actually have to back it up with some sort of skill, and Kamala almost f*cked it up because she's still lacking control of her powers. granted, a broken or twisted ancle is still better than the kid dying for being a dumbass :p

that's good though, it shows she's still flawed.

I heard people saying this show nails the feeling you should get from a Spider-Man adaptation and after that second episode I can definitely say I agree. This really feels like what Homecoming would've been if Tony never recruited Peter during CIVIL WAR, which is really the highest compliment I can pay the show. The people behind this series just GET it in a way few others do. Huge shoutout to Iman for absolutely slaying the role but the show around her is absolutely pulling it's weight as well

@OmegaDaGrodd - spot on.

Had Tony never recruited Peter or even if Peter had become content with not being an Avenger during all of HC and just committed to protecting Queens, I imagine it would’ve felt like this show.

@OmegaDaGrodd - So you're saying its derivative?

@Radders - No, I'm saying Kamala and Peter have a decent amount of overlap (teenage heroes in a new york-like borough, high school students, secret identities, etc) so she ends up hitting a lot of the notes you'd expect a Peter story to. That's only speaking from a conceptual standpoint though. The actual execution of Ms Marvel as a show has an energy that no Spider-Man movie has ever tried to capture, even tho it would probably benefit Peter Parker stories to have similar tones to this show

@OmegaDaGrodd - oh its like so many kids shows and films where a teenager finds a source of power. This show is pretty much hitting all those cliched beats, the only difference is that she's a muslim

@Radders - no, I'm not sure why your only able to interpret things through such a strange lens. Ms Marvel absolutely engages with the tropes of the genres in its DNA, but the execution is anything but cliche. You may want to actually watch the show so that your assumptions don't end up as off-base as they are now

@OmegaDaGrodd - I do watch the show so there are no "assumptions" beyond your own.

Whilst there are differences, it is the standard kids program trope I've seen many times before, as I described - finds a magical object and gets powers.
The show is hitting so many tropes - pushy mum, daft dad, girl who doesn't fit in, friend-zoned friend who secretly likes her, love tringle with good looking boy.

It's not terrible its just inoffensive and not very exciting. The family stuff is actually far more engaging than the super stuff which is dull and not being very well handled in my opinion.

That may change but we're halfway through now so not much time.

Can't wait for the new episode, the series is pretty fun.

I think during Aamir's wedding is when Kamala's powers will end up revealed to everyone in her family.

I went in with the intention to not like this show but i was very wrong. Very charming and likeable kid, cringe moments south asians can relate to. They have me hook line and sinker with the ritviz ost , Baazigar, Ddlj and SRk namedrops. Cant wait to see what Farhan and Fawad will be bringing to this show. Partition is always a painful memory for us, so hopefully its treated with respect and restraint.
