It was revealed yesterday that Fox has picked up The Gifted for a second season but it appears as if we can forget about Bryan Singer having any sort of involvement in the series moving forward. As you may already know, the X-Men: Apocalypse director helmed the pilot but he's been faced with a string of sexual assault allegations lately and was even fired from his Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.
Talking to Deadline, Fox Entertainment President Michael Thorn said that Singer only received an executive producer credit as part of his deal for coming on board to direct the pilot and indicated that while his status is now being reviewed, he's actually had little day to day involvement with the show.
"As part of his deal for directing the pilot, he is an executive producer on the series. Truthfully, after he shot the pilot, he went and did a movie and had little to no involvement day-to-day in Season 1. But we take all [those] allegations very seriously, and we’re looking into it for Season 2. Right now we have a lot of time before it premieres, and we continue to have discussions about it."
Allegations against Singer first surfaced in December but those were not the first the filmmaker has faced.
