Fox's THE GIFTED Casts Garret Dillahunt As Roderick Campbell Aka Ahab

It seems Fox's The Gifted is going to be tweaking the comic book origins of Roderick Campbell, aka Ahab, for its television drama as Justified's Garret Dillahunt has just been cast in the role.
Deadline reports that the character will play a "key recurring role" in the new series and that Campbell is a "mutant researcher contracted by the Sentinel Services. Professorial, intense and intimidating, Dr. Campbell has a morally dubious mission yet to be revealed."
In the comics, Campbell starts out as a good man but when he gets a glimpse of his future as a sadistic mutant hunter in a world ruled by Apocalypse he sets out on a frantic mission to change his fate. Ironically, it's these very actions that result in the undesired future coming true. Comic book readers will also be familiar with the instrumental role Ahab plays in the creation of Rachel Summers.
Could the aforementioned "dubious mission yet to be revealed" somehow tie back to Apocalypse? We'll likely have to wait until The Gifted premieres on Oct 2, 2017 for its 10-episode run. Will you be tuning in?
