20th Century Fox and Marvel Television's deal to co-produce new X-Men themed TV shows continues to deliver some interesting results, as they've settled on their next project after Legion. According to Variety, the network has made a put pilot commitment for a new "adventure series" from writer Matt Nix (Burn Notice). He'll executive produce with Bryan Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, and Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory, so there's a pretty impressive team working on this one.
What will it be about? Well, the trade reveals that, "The untitled series will focus on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive." Will they be characters from the comic books or something new? That remains to be seen, though there's a slim chance that the underground network mentioned above could be The Morlocks.
This show is expected to air on Fox (Legion will be on FX), but don't expect that Hellfire Club series to join it as that's no longer moving forward despite being announced a while back by the two studios. "Marvel Television is thrilled to be co-producing with 20th Century Fox Television on our first project," Loeb said in a statement about this new drama. "Matt’s a huge fan of ‘X-Men’ and his take on the ‘X-Men’ universe, with its rich characters and high-stakes adventure, is exactly the show we want on Fox. It’s a great team of creative producers who will be making something entirely unique."
