Elizabeth Olsen Hesitant To Discuss Potential Scarlet Witch Return For Fear Of "Spoiling Something"

Elizabeth Olsen will almost certainly return as Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch, at some point, but the actress is hesitant to discuss the possibility for fear of "spoiling something."

After a brush with villainy (depending on your perspective) in the season finale of WandaVision, the Scarlet Witch became the full-blown antagonist of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Wanda committed some pretty heinous acts under the influence of the Darkhold, including the massacre of the entire Illuminati in an alternate reality. In the end, she took responsibility for her actions, destroying every copy of the Darkhold and burying herself under the crumbling Mount Wundagore.

Though she appeared to perish, it'd take more than some rubble to finish off one of the most powerful characters in the MCU, and we will almost certainly see the Scarlet Witch again at some point.

During a recent appearance at Kuwait’s Comfest Con, Elizabeth Olsen was asked what storylines she'd like to be a part of if and when Wanda returns.

“Well, honestly, if I were to tell you exactly what I would want, I think I would be spoiling something. Because Kevin Feige genuinely asks us what we want to do with the character and then he does it. So… I don’t know if I can share, but I just want to come back!”

It sounds like she's definitely had some discussions about her big comeback, but that's probably all we'll have to go on for a while.

Olsen has previously indicated that she'd like to be involved with the infamous "No More Mutants" arc, but it's hard to imagine that story is already being discussed when mutants haven't even officially debuted yet.

Wanda is expected to have a role in the upcoming Vision Quest Disney+ series, and may also show up in Agatha: Coven of Chaos. The character is also sure to factor into Avengers: Secret Wars.

My guess is still that Agatha is secretly S2 of WandaVision under another title and she will return in that show. Then the trilogy will conclude with Vision Quest.

That’s my hope at least because otherwise I have 0 interest in the Agatha show.

@MrDandy - doesn't need to have Wanda to continue that story. Think WandaVision, Agatha and Vision Quest will indeed form some sort of Westview trilogy/saga though

@MrDandy - I could see Wanda factoring into the ending of Agatha, but Agatha has plenty to tell on her own... she has been around since at least the witch trials.

She was so good in M.O.M🔥💪💥🤝

@AmazingFILMporg - Probably the only reason worth watching it for. I still think they could have done more to set up her turn though as at the of WandaVision she had seen the error of her ways, to then go through a similar arc in MoM...but obviously much darker.

@UniqNo -

There has been 7 years of set up. Her turn to evil has been set up since AOU💁.

She got a push to the darkhold🤝

@AmazingFILMporg - I'd say she got a 7 year lead up to Wandavision and the events that unfolded there... but to go back on it again... she even said it was her, not the dark hold.. but happy to disagree on that 1.

@AmazingFILMporg - that build up came to its climax in Wandavision. She learned her lesson in that show. Then Feige retconned it with MoM.

@AmazingFILMporg - I thought she was great. I’m more disappointed her motivation was really complex in WandVision and reduced to controlled by an evil book in MoM. But she gave a great performance and was awsome as an unstoppable force.

@UniqNo - I mean she was great in the movie, but it's not like Dr Strange himself was bad in it to say that it was the only reason.
Conquistador
Conquistador - 2/24/2023, 1:25 PM
@Urubrodi - In my opinion the movie was a mess. The only redeeming quality was Scarlet witch. Her performance was great, but I'm still not a fan of the characters trajectory. Strange was Strange I guess but nothing different... even with the variants. His wig looked terrible at times though.

@UniqNo - The movie was a hot mess BECAUSE of Scarlet Witch.

My guess is she'll come back at the end of phase 6. If they're set on redeeming her she'll end up bringing everyone back she killed (probably resetting the MCU in the process) and die herself. She'll also show the mutants to the world (a nice spin on the 'no more mutants' line) and off we go to a new MCU saga/phase 7 with the mutants and Feige stepping down.

Just a guess 😅

@UniqNo - I wasn't at first, but I am on board now with Wanda doing a reverse-No More Mutants moment in the MCU.

Although I also wanna see Hope Summers in the MCU though, but I guess they can still sort do her arc as well.
Conquistador
Conquistador - 2/24/2023, 11:18 AM
@bkmeijer1 - Yeah, I think having her undo what the future MCU's Xavier has done to keep them a secret (as a way to introduce them) or the celestial doing somthing similar is the only plausible way to bring them in.

mountainman - 2/24/2023, 11:28 AM
@bkmeijer1 - I feel like the Hope story can still work without the mutant decimation. She can still be viewed as a future danger without that. The core of her character was always that some people thought she was a danger and the mutants wanted to protect her.

@mountainman @UniqNo - yeah. Think both the Wanda and Hope arc can work
mountainman
mountainman - 2/24/2023, 2:55 PM
@bkmeijer1 - And Hope as the through like can lead up to AvX as the saga ender!
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 2/24/2023, 5:38 PM
@mountainman - I do wanna see AvX as well. Maybe even so much that I'm okay with them skipping the Dark Phoenix saga.
mountainman
mountainman - 2/24/2023, 5:47 PM
@bkmeijer1 - The problem with Dark Phoenix is that it has been told twice already on screen. I know neither were good, but a third time seems like it needs to be pretty far away. I would even cut the Phoenix elements, and the post-Schism stuff out of AvX.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 2/24/2023, 6:04 PM
@mountainman - I think they can leave the Phoenix part in. Can just make it so that's it's the first time the Phoenix force is encountered.

I know it's controversial, but I don't mind it skipping over Jean as it's host. Like you say we've already seen it twice, so I don't need to see it again.
mountainman
mountainman - 2/24/2023, 6:13 PM
@bkmeijer1 - Yeah, maybe making Hope the Phoenix host and that's why the Avengers go after her could be fuel.

But like I said, no Schism. There isn't enough time and history to make that story land. Wolverine should be on the X-Men side in the movie version.

I still want to see Sinister be a big mutant villain in the first Saga. He is just too perfect for it. Manipulating things behind the scenes so to speak. He could even be partnering with Doom for them to both be manipulating events. It would be nice if the next saga isn't just one big bad to differentiate from the Infinity and Multiverse sagas.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 2/25/2023, 2:30 AM
@mountainman - yeah, I agree. Sinister would be cool to see. About time too

Well if she can't talk about it is because she'll be back, basically. Her answer would be a simple "don't know anything about it" otherwise.
TyrantBossMedia
TyrantBossMedia - 2/24/2023, 10:46 AM
Well the fact that she's not willing to talk about it "for fear of spoiling something" clearly tells us she is going to return because her talking about her return would be the only way to actually spoil something.

But then this caught my attention "Kevin Feige genuinely asks us what we want to do with the character and then he does it."

So the ACTORS get to determine the direction of the characters? The comics and stories don't drive the train, they are actually granting more creative control to the ACTORS?!?

I can understand going to actors for nuance and depth of the character, and maybe the actors opposing to a specific direction like Hammill did with Johnson's take on Luke, but in the end Hammil is an actor and did what the director wanted because that was the director's vision.

Letting the actors determine direction may be instrumental in why the Marvel stories have been suffering so much since Endgame.

I'm scared of her after Multiverse of Madness, but still, she's one character who I just want to give a comforting hug to. Her and Thor have had really brutal arcs in the MCU, with so much loss and personal tragedy.
mountainman
mountainman - 2/24/2023, 11:30 AM
@MosquitoFarmer - I’d agree with Thor pre-L&T. That was just a backwards step for him. I know he has an adoptive daughter by the end of the movie, but that came out of nowhere and it sure seems like they reversed the growth he had by the end of Endgame of moving in from his tragedies.

I wouldn't answer, either. It's none of our business, anyway.

To me, it seems that the assumption that they have to first introduce mutants in order to play out the "No More Mutants" storyline on-screen is flawed.

There currently are no more mutants. Not really. It seems to me that they could easily pull a "Sentry-like" story out of their pockets and introduce the idea that we currently don't have mutants because we are smack in the middle of No More Mutants, and Wanda already did this to all of us - MCU characters and audience members in the real world - in the aftermath of WandaVision. In other words, something she did was what she tried first or was a reactionary move, and now, when she comes out of the rubble, she works to restore what she took in order to continue making amends. And poof. We have mutants back and an explanation of why no one remembered them.

Or something like that.

My main point is simply this: What if we are in the middle of No More Mutants already? There's no need to tell the beginning first.

@Deckacards - I agree with yhe idea of :no more mutants " having occurred in the past hence why no mutants in the MCU.

That’s a big change of tune. When she was filming that Facebook show and the movies, she expressed wanting to be free of the mcu to be allowed to do other things. I do hope she comes back. Lizzie a national treasure

I know a lot of people here disagree, but I liked Dr. Strange MoM, & I thought Scarlet Witch was great in it.

I have thoughts of the Witch & Clea in Dr. Strange 3.

Now I'm having major porn thoughts about Elizabeth Olsen & Charlize Theron.

Oooh yah... Gotta go NOW!

There’s no way she comes back onto the good side unless it’s a variant. She went all the way bad. She was a murderer and killed many people.
