VISION QUEST Disney+ Series Rumored To Be In Development At Marvel Studios

It's been a while since we've seen White Vision, but it seems like Marvel Studios might have big plans for his future and they could involve a brand new Disney+ series to bring him back into the fold.

After breaking the huge news that Harrison Ford would join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the new Thunderbolt Ross, The Ankler's Jeff Sneider is back with another big scoop that could reveal when we'll finally learn more about the whereabouts of White Vision (Paul Bettany).

During the latest episode of The Hot Mic with Jeff and John, Sneider reveals that Marvel Studios is actively developing a new Disney+ series named Vision Quest. He shares, "I'm told that next week, Marvel will be opening a writers' room for a Vision show titled 'Vision Quest'."

While he wasn't aware whether the potential new series would adapt the comic storyline of the same name, he did seem confident in his source, and considering his track record, it's probably safe to say this project could very well be in the works for Phase 5 or 6.

It's hard to say whether we'll get any actual confirmation from the studio before the end of the year, but don't ever count Marvel Studios out. There are still two months in the calendar year and we wouldn't necessarily be shocked if they make some new announcements at another Disney investor day.

WandaVision already adapted some of the Vision Quest storyline, with the Vision dismantled and reassembled in a brand-new white bod (albeit without his previous memories or emotions), which ultimately resulted in him leaving Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) behind.

Whether this potential new series could reunite the star-crossed lovers remains to be seen. If we were to wager a guess, we'd bet against seeing that reunion here, as it's more likely Marvel Studios will save that for the big screen and instead use this series as more build-up for either Avengers: The Kang Dynasty or Avengers: Secret Wars

Calling it now, Agatha Series is actually WandaVision season 2 under a different name and Vision Quest will basically be season 3.

@MrDandy -
Perhaps in terms of how they are executed, but Agatha is not as compelling a character and got her series primarily due to meme value like the rerelease of Morbius while Vision was interesting but they seemed to abandon his dynamic and logical progression with Wanda.

Seems like the same way that WandaVision was a play on words referencing both Television and Wanda & Vision, Vision Quest could do the same thing with the title referring to the Native American rite of passage. White Vision is essentially an adolescent looking to enter “adulthood” and discover who and what he is.

I had an idea/a vague premise for a Vision solo limited series.

It would be called Double Vision, and deal with Paul Bettany switching back and forth between White and Red vision, almost as if they both now inhabit the same form, but the Original vision is only an AI that speaks to White vision, and to avoid confusion and to use a call back, Red vision tells White Vision to just call him Jarvis.

So basically the mini series is a few episodes of White vision who disguises himself as a human Vision (Paul Bettany with the stone in his forehead) going on a road trip across the current MCU, in an attempt to recover authentic memories of who he was, guided by the data files and personality of Jarvis.

At some point The Visions will allow one another to take over control of the body, and Vision doesnt understand why Jarvis wouldnt want to harm him to steal the body, but Jarvis explains as a good friend once taught him, "We dont trade lives". To take over the body would mean killing this new White Vision, and our Jarvis Vision would never kill a brother just to have his old life back.

The ending would have Jarvis uninstall from Vision permanently, saying how it was a pleasure to have met him, and he hopes he values life and all its gifts as much as he did. Now it is New Visions turn to see what life has to offer.

I've been wanting Vision to get his own series. My head canon was for Vision to create his own android family like he did in the comics but his wife being Jocasta, played by Paul Bettany's real wife, Jennifer Connelly, and the show introduce his daughter, Viv Vision. While Vision and Scarlet Witch are on different paths at the moment this would be the time to explore a story unique to him before Marvel Studios eventually reunites the two to give them a happy ending to their story.

Also, we know Marvel Studios is into legacy characters and original actors who've been playing these characters for a while, can't play them forever. At some point, Kevin Feige has to be looking at giving them a conclusion to their story arcs. Viv Vision would be a continuation of the Vision character for the next generation, alongside Wiccan and Speed, who would be continuations of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.

@String - I’m hoping by the end he ends up getting the soul stone in his head and that’s what makes him more human.

By not bringing him back in MoM in any form you've damaged a lot of people's interests in the character. If Wanda can randomly stop caring about him then why should the audience attach to him. His dynamic of finding his identity was handled in AoU so if we're doing a stretched version of that I'm not sure what it'll add.

@Scarilian - how did she randomly stop caring about him... she went through a series dealing with him being not there, there, having to say goodbye 'for good'.

Show? Just like Agatha, I think both are more fitting for a Special Presentation.

Also, I think Vision would be a good candidate for being the new He Who Remains after Secret Wars.

I think this would be perfect for a "Marvel Studios: Special Presentation".

What has White Vision been up to since the events of WandaVision, before we see him again on the big screen.

That's the perfect way to use these Special Presentations. Give us quick introductions to some new characters, and give us updates on existing ones like Vision.

There’s nothing left from the “Vision Quest” storyline to adapt, so I’m sure it’ll just be a reuse of the name.

The most likely plot lines on the Vision’s side would be about the Vision having to regain his emotions (because emotionless White Vision is rather dull), which in the comics proved difficult in part because he was avoiding and suppressing them (his children were gone and his wife had left him, so having emotions would suck.). In the comics, the return of his emotions was jumpstarted with him receiving new brain engrams based on a dead police officer named Alex Lipton, but if they were going that route it could be a way to provide the classic link to Simon Williams who was the original source of the human brain engrams that the Vision’s programming used. That would likely depend on Simon dying at the end of his show/special.

The other big plotline possible would be some version of the Vision limited series where he created a family of his own. This could serve as almost a sequel to WandaVision, again in the suburbs but a modern one. Or they could just focus on the one surviving member of his family in the comics and have it streamlined down to the creation of Viv without all of the suburban living.

Whether there’s a “questing” character looking for him as well, I don’t know. With Wanda dead (presently) and no active Avengers team, I’m not sure who would be beyond some agency worried that he’s a danger.

Vision Quest is classic story but they'll probably just use the name like Born Again.
