VISION QUEST Update Suggests The Disney+ Series Could Be Merged With THE CHILDREN'S CRUSADE

The latest Vision Quest update suggests the Disney+ series may have been scrapped, but hope remains because the story could end up being merged with an adaptation of The Children's Crusade. Check it out...

Since Bob Iger's return as Disney CEO, the executive has pulled back on spending and reduced the level of content being made for streaming. Bob Chapek went all-in on that, hence why the Marvel Cinematic Universe began expanding on television at the rate of knots.

Vision Quest is among the TV shows still thought to be on the way, though with us going from getting half a dozen Disney+ projects each year to perhaps only one or two, when and where will there be time to tell the former Avenger's story in the Multiverse Saga?

The answer may be by combining it with another long-rumoured MCU project.

WandaVision showrunner Jac Schaeffer no longer has Vision Quest listed on her WGA Directory credits, though Agatha: Darhold Diaries (with its updated title) remains. While she was set to take charge of the show, other writers have similarly removed it from their pages, leading to speculation this spin-off about White Vision has been scrapped.

It's feasible Marvel Studios has simply turned to a new creative team, though one reliable scooper has strongly hinted that Vision Quest is being folded into The Children's Crusade

If it follows the comic books, that will see Billy and Tommy Maximoff track down their mother, the Scarlet Witch. Considering the fact Vision is technically their father, you can see how he might be involved, though it's previously been said that Vision Quest will adapt Tom King's Vision series which saw the android build a family of his own before things went horribly wrong.

A brief description release for the spin-off reveals it would revolve around the synthezoid "trying to regain his memory and humanity," with Paul Bettany set to reprise his WandaVision role.

The finale of that series revealed the Vision we'd been spending time with over the course of the season was actually one of Wanda's constructs, though the real, "White Vision" was rebuilt by S.W.O.R.D. and programmed to track down and kill the Scarlet Witch. He flew away to parts unknown towards the end of the finale after his memories were restored.

As for Wanda, the last time we saw her, she was laying waste to Earth-838's Illuminati and bringing a mountain down on top of herself in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness after removing the Darkhold from every reality.

Nothing is confirmed with Vision Quest right now, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I don't care for the rumour part, but it is interesting the show is no longer listed on her credits. Wouldn't mind it if it's no longer a show either, as a special presentation could work just as well (if not better)

I don't think this show should exist. Wanda did not give a single [frick] about Vision in Multiverse of Madness so why should we as the audience care at this point?

Similarly, Wanda's children... nobody connects with the story because you had Wanda torture an entire town, face no repercussions and then go on to slaughter countless people for the fake kids.

It's incredibly difficult for even a competent writer to get the audience back into caring for these characters and we know that Disney does not have competent writers at the moment as nothing in Phase 4 or 5 has been salvageable except the basic development of the High Evolutionary in GotG3 made by people who no longer work for Disney.

@Scarilian -

Loki killed thousands of people and betrayed his brother many times. Also killed Agent Coulson.
Yet he remains as popular as ever and they were able to sort of redeem him.

Why is it Wanda gets so much hate for doing less ?

@MisterDoctor217 -

People enjoyed/liked both these characters during Phase 1-3

Loki is characterized as a tragic villain, he's a child born/raised with ideas of a glory he would never achieved. He acts recklessly for this attention and glory, getting in too deep as a servant of Thanos and eventually his actions result in the death of someone he cares about, his mother. Thor: The Dark World serves as his turning point where he faces consequences for his actions and notably puts aside his plans for power in order to help Thor defeat a greater threat, proving he is redeemable. While he still makes a grab for power that's contextualized as him just wanting to be acknowledged by people as shown in Thor: Ragnarok. He then has another sacrifice in Infinity War. His arc done, this version of Loki never returns.

People liked Wanda because she started off misguided and villainous, a child with a traumatic past that led her to have preconceived notions about Tony Stark and the Avengers and through being offered a family by the Avengers, she ended up being accepted and became one of them, only for this to collapse when she made a mistake in Captain America: Civil War. Suddenly Wanda is a risk to people, she's disliked, hated. Wanda has every reason to turn into a villain and leave, but she doesn't. Wanda stands up for what she knows is right and just. When the Black Order attack in Infinity War, Wanda is willing to sacrifice the person she 'loved' in order to save the universe and when that failed she was willing to go toe-to-toe with the person who forced her to make that sacrifice, Thanos, in Endgame. This is an extremely strong narrative about how a tortured child who is led on a villainous path can be redeemed by a supportive environment and how this child can become a hero.

THEN WandaVision comes along and she does horrific things. She entraps an entire town. She physically, mentally and emotionally tortures its entire population in order to relive a sitcom environment from her childhood. This should be treated as her relapsing because she's lost the person she cares about, instead the story uses it as a vehicle to introduce two new characters, fake children that she created. Suddenly the story has shifted, it's no longer about her loss but more to do with her delusional mind and desires of a future she was never going to have regardless.

Wandavision ends and she was supposed to be according to those involved a 'hero' despite torturing the entire town for what is implied to be at least a week or so and she's treated as if she's absolved of all her actions with "They'll never know what you sacrificed for them" as if Wanda was a victim. This already is a problem because it damages Wanda as a character, the story wants to have her as a sympathetic villain now but wants people to view her as a tortured hero and never has Wanda fully acknowledge or apologize for the horrors of what she did to the town.

Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, broke Wanda completely. She's faced no punishment from Westview, something acknowledged by Doctor Strange. She's done horrific actions and gotten away with it, now she's going to do the same. The idea she's being manipulated by the Darkhold is thrown out almost instantly when Wanda's goals are personal to her, she no longer cares for Vision despite him being her primary light for multiple films/shows. The Darkhold is destroyed and we realize this isn't her being manipulated, this is what she wants, showing that she's just an irredeemable villain - yet the story thinks we sympathize with Wanda over the loss of her fake kids and treats her as having a tragic redemption at the end - but the audience has no sympathy for the character at this point because she's actively tortured and killed hundreds of characters including fan favorites and done so with glee.

TLDR:
• Loki was popular because he's was a tragic villain who eventually had a redemption. (Phase 1-3)
• Wanda was popular because she was a tortured soul who became a hero and despite temptation to fall back to villainy, rejected it and sacrificed everything she loved to save the universe (Phase 1-3)

Phase 4 destroyed these characters and now people only have an interest in them because they are arguably the best actors the MCU has as of Phase 4/5 currently. People can separate the Loki character from the utter abomination that is the Loki series because its' a variant of Loki, but for Wanda it's the same character we've followed so people dislike Wanda as a character.

After they completely destroyed Wanda as a character in Dr Strange 2, I really couldn’t care less about this side of the MCU any more.

I could see this working ...as a movie.

A lof of Vision quest has either been told or can't because of the change in his origin. Injecting Simon now is pointless.

Marvel seems hell bent to introduce Billy and Tommy. One thing that never made sense about MoM is Wanda knows Vision is out there and just ignores it. The problem with these stories are they are years worth of comics which intertwine into other events. Childrens Crusade is a big story with the Avengers, Doom and Xmen. The only way I see Marvel doing this is Vision, Tommy and Billy searching for Wanda. In the MCU, its the mindstone, not Simon (or Miles Lipton) brain waves that gives him his emotions. Its all convoluted and confusing when Vison isnt sure if its the Simon part of his brain that loves Wanda. They basically are back and forth throughout the 90's and 00's.

There is even a part where Doom says (and lies) that he made Wanda kill the Avengers. You could have someone take the role to redeem her while finding some way to get Vision his emotions back.

Everyone keeps saying that Iger is shifting focus from quantity back to quality. I’ve read so many articles about how they’re reducing how many streaming projects they’re working on, yet NOTHING has been cancelled. They’re still making the exact same amount of streaming content. Feels like they’re just telling us what we want to hear, but then just carrying on doing the same shit. Nobody is eagerly awaiting Echo, or Agatha, or any of the animated stuff yet they’re all still on the release slate.

Yeah, it's all BS. We're still getting an endless stream of poor quality material, it's just either been delayed or shifted into another format.

They are not going to fix anything.
