WANDAVISION: Kat Dennings & Randall Park Will Reprise Their MCU Roles; Kathryn Hahn Joins The Cast

Following the big Falcon and the Winter Soldier casting news, Marvel Studios president revealed new details about WandaVision, announcing a pair of returning faces and a new addition to the MCU.

During the Marvel Studios segment of the big Disney+ presentation yesterday, Kevin Feige revealed new details about WandaVision and announced that the series would see Kat Dennings (Thor: The Dark World) and Randall Park (Ant-Man and the Wasp) reprise their roles as Darcy Lewis and Agent Jimmy Woo, respectively.

The pair weren't the only new additions to the upcoming series as Primetime Emmy-nominee Kathryn Hahn (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) has also joined the cast in a role that's currently being described as Wanda's noisy neighbor.

Matt Shakman (Fargo) is directing the six-episode series, which will be headlined by Marvel Cinematic Universe veterans Elizabeth Olsen (Avengers: Endgame) and Paul Bettany (Avengers: Infinity War). Teyonah Parris (Mad Men) will also feature as an adult Monica Rambeau.

Plot details are understandably scarce, but it's been described as a MCU epic combined with elements of a sitcom with the Olsen and Bettany jointly calling it a variation of "wacky and fun," "so funny" and a "huge epic."

It's set to debut exclusively on Disney+ in Spring 2021, presumably ahead of the Scarlet Witch's hotly awaited big-screen return in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on May 7, 2021.

WANDAVISION

Stars Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen were on hand for their new series, Marvel Studios’ “WandaVision.” Bettany returns as Vision and Olsen as Wanda Maximoff—two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives who begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems. Kevin Feige surprised the audience by bringing to the stage Kat Dennings and Randall Park who will reprise their roles from “Thor” and “Ant-Man and The Wasp,” and then he introduced Kathryn Hahn who has been cast as a new character in the series. Director Matt Shakman and head writer Jac Schaeffer joined everyone on stage to reveal that the streaming series will blend the style of classic sitcoms with Marvel Cinematic Universe. “WandaVision” premieres on Disney+ in 2021.

What this show will be is becoming harder and harder to picture with each announcement. I’m really intrigued though.

@Chewtoy - I assume it’ll start with Wanda and vision on the suburbs like a sitcom with Wanda slowly realizing she is in another dimension or she changed the world somehow

Not Kathryn Hahn's first rodeo as a Marvel character :)

WandaVision sounds like the weakest out of the MCU Disney+ imo. Someone described it as part epic, part Dick Van Dyke sitcom.👀

Love me some Kathryn Hahn tho.

@regularmovieguy - Dick Van Dyke sitcom sounds awesome!!!
Loki is the one I care the least about. Probably gonna skip it. What IF should be cool too, don't get all the hesitation in regards to that from people on here.

The fact that this weird "sitcom" show about suburban life where not everything is as it seems ties into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness gives me all I need to know about how weird and somewhat unique this show could be.

Said it before but this is clearly gonna be some 50s esque white picket fence, ideal family world Wanda's creates where she's married to Vision with kids. It'll be fun and silly but the darker elements will come into play as the world starts crumbling and Wanda starts losing control. That'll lead into Doctor Strange having to fix the reality bending mess she's made.

@tmp3

I think the What If series sounds badass. Legit really excited for that show. Dk how I feel yet about the Loki series.

Love the cast that they’re bringing in, too. Wyatt Russell, Kathryn Hahn...

...What is this show, even? Monica Rambeau, Darcy, and Woo? That's a weird supporting cast, man. But I also don't think they'd roll the dice on something completely eclectic with two of their bigger named Avengers (especially with the cache Olsen has).

Surely this must be Marvel Studio's first failure, right? :)

Everything is not as it seems? Calling it now, Wanda is imagining/creating a reality where Vision is still alive and they are living happily with kids. They slowly realise that this reality cannot be maintained, and Wanda looses everything once again. Wanda has a breakdown and teams up with Doctor Strange in an attempt to restore them by travelling through the multiverse, which inadvertently restores mutants (and hopefully Wanda's family (maybe even Quicksilver) to the MCU). Maybe they will even retcon Magneto as her dad.

The title is bad enough. Now we have two of the cringiest characters in the MCU coming back. This is sounding worse and worse.

At best, this Disney+ TV shows could be my three favorite Marvel phases brought to the frontline of the MCU.

At worst it could be just some cliched MCU stuff that brings nothing new to the table and doesn't even tie well with the MCU at large. I guess we shall see.

I agree with those who say this will be a reality created by Wanda where she and Vision live happy, maybe WandaVision is meant to sound like television, because it will be this artificial perfect world that looks like a 50's sitcom

This really sounds inspired. Sort of like a Truman Show living in the perfect world concept but set in an alternate reality distant from the actual world. Eventually the reality and ideal of such a dream can not be contained properly because the mind is an unstable being. Scarlet Witch is a character that does have some control but her powers are also known to be unhinged at times. It’s like knowing your within the dream of Inception in this world but just waiting for that click, that one click to collapse it all. It is just so perfectly dark and evil in nature.

Why no article about Kit Harrington?

Confirmed as playing Dane Whitman in the Eternals.
Dane Whitman being the name of The Black Knight though they haven't confirmed if he actually will be or become The Black Knight
