After experimenting with an interactive episode (Bandersnatch) earlier this year, Netflix is finally ready to deliver the next season of Black Mirror. The sci-fi anthology series, which “explores a twisted, high-tech near-future where humanity's greatest innovations and darkest instincts collide,” is set to return for its fifth season this summer.

Black Mirror: Season 5 will be comprised of three new stories “about the future we should have seen coming.” While each episode in Black Mirror typically stands on its own, it seems this season will have an overarching theme that explores humans’ basic need to feel connected with others, and the impact technology can have on marriage, self-esteem, fame, social media and mental health.

A trailer was released alongside the premiere date announcement, teasing the three intriguing stories and highlighting a star-studded cast that includes Anthony Mackie, Miley Cyrus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Topher Grace, Damson Idris, Andrew Scott, Nicole Beharie, Pom Klementieff, Angourie Rice, Madison Davenport and Ludi Lin.

The cast involved again seems pretty cool, so I might watch it (first might finish season 3 and 4)

Love Black Mirror. Disappointed its only three episodes, but I guess Bandersnatch may be to blame for that, but still really excited!

@MrDandy - I agree, but I'd rather 3 really great episodes than 6 mediocre ones (not that Season 4 was mediocre by any means). I just don't want them to push out crap episodes just for number count.

@Nebula - she's pretty two-faced in my opinion. Not even about her being weird, that's fine. Her career now is a giant contradiction to a "particular period" of her career and she disowned it in a way that was insulting and unaware.

She seems nice enough outside of that.

Black Mirror has been trash since Netflix bought it. Proof? Miley Cyrus was able to get on the show! She's a terrible actress, and an even worse singer, there's literally no reason a show of this caliber needs her other than getting more viewers. The creators artistic integrity is gone. I'm done.

Wow! Loved the trailer! great cast also, can't wait to see Pom, i've never saw her in anything besides GotG.
Miley it's not a problem, i also never watched her acting but Black Mirror has great directors and writers, so i think her episode may turn out really well. I'll give it a chance
