New Data Shows That THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY Received More Viewers Than STRANGER THINGS Season One

Netflix subscribers know that Stranger Things is a titan and pulls in tons of viewers, however it seems that Netflix now has another show that's giving Hawkins, Indiana a run for their money! Check it out!

It came as a surprise to Netflix subscribers when it was announced earlier this year that their partnership with Marvel would be coming to an end due to the upcoming Disney+ rival streaming service. This meant the end of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Punisher, and Jessica Jones, which came as a blow to both fans and people working on the series.

While it was certain that Stranger Things would keep many people invested in the streaming giant, Netflix also released another new series shortly after the announcement of their parting ways with Marvel. It was another comic property called The Umbrella Academy, though this was not a Marvel story. Much darker, it was written by My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way.

Although The Umbrella Academy didn't arrive with a Marvel stamp on it, it did surprisingly well with viewership. So well, in fact, that it managed to outdo the massively popular Stranger Things in it's freshman outing, as you can see by the data provided below.

Of course, this begs the question then, with The Umbrella Academy Season 2 on the way, will their Sophomore numbers be able to stand up to the insane increase that Stranger Things saw between seasons? Let us know what you think and check out the trailer for The Umbrella Academy below!

The Umbrella Academy revolves around a dysfunctional family of adopted sibling superheroes who reunite to solve the mystery of their father's death, and the oncoming threat of the apocalypse.

The Umbrella Academy is available to stream now on Netflix.

Decent show but stranger things is wayyyy better imo. This article also ignores the fact stranger things s01 came out three years ago when netflix had less subscribers.

@ReverseFlasher - The dates are listed in the image with the data.

@LiteraryJoe - He wasn't saying the dates were ignored. He means the Netflix subscriber count on the dates was ignored.

If they have twice the members they did three years prior, those figures would be less impressive.

@ReverseFlasher - Your comment ignores that Stranger Things was also slow to catch on at first. It took 2-3 weeks for people to start talking about it.

This data stuff is all over the place. Is it general views or the entire episode?

@benjithegreat - Counterpoint: They’re both good. The ass-sucking is all in your mind.

I have a sneaking suspicion Netflix may have tried to downplay the popularity of UA while it got everyone signed to longer deals. Just a guess.
