AHSOKA Season 2 Gets A Disappointing Update As Manny Jacinto Shares Hopes For THE ACOLYTE's Future

Ahsoka star Natasha Liu Bordizzo has shared a disappointing update on when season 2 begins shooting as The Acolyte's Manny Jacinto reveals his hopes to see the cancelled Star Wars series continue...

While some were quick to rejoice at the news, many Star Wars fans were left reeling by Disney+'s decision to cancel The Acolyte after a single season.

Despite a social media outcry and various online petitions, the odds of the series returning for a second season are incredibly low. For those who enjoyed it, that's a shame because the finale left many unanswered questions and dangling plot threads that may never be addressed (what exactly Darth Plagueis was up to, for example).

Manny Jacinto played the enigmatic Stranger, a formidable Sith warrior who took Amandla Stenberg's Mae under his wing; the actor, who received rave reviews for his performance, appeared at Dragon Con this weekend and was asked what he still wants to do "before you leave this mortal coil."

As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, Jacinto simply responded, "The Acolyte Season 2." Fans in attendance definitely approved.

You can hear that for yourselves in the player below.

There was another major Star Wars update at the event because Sabine Wren actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo was on hand to discuss Dave Filoni's plans for Ahsoka season 2.

That series also ended on a major cliffhanger, though it wasn't long before a second batch of episodes was made official. Filoni is returning for those, with the expectation being the show will set the stage for his upcoming Star Wars crossover movie (which is now coming after The Mandalorian and Grogu).

According to Bordizzo, she expects shooting to begin on Ahsoka season 2 next summer. This means we won't see the series back on our screens until 2026 at the earliest, resulting in a three-year gap between seasons.

Remember when we'd get two dozen episodes of TV shows like 24, Lost, and Smallville every year without fail? That sure does feel like a long time ago now...

Earlier this year, Hayden Christensen was asked about potentially reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka season 2. "Look, as to whether or not we see Anakin again, I don’t know," he admitted. "But as evidenced by that last shot of the series, he’s with her in spirit, and they continue to have this connection."

Stay tuned for more updates on The Acolyte and Ahsoka season 2 as we have them.

Let's condense all that down.

Ahsoka was good. Acolyte was terrible. The end.

FFS, Joshy-Boy.

Enough.

I liked Ahsoka, so that's why I clicked on this.

"Despite a social media outcry and various online petitions, the odds of the series returning for a second season are incredibly low."

Told you that as soon as you posted it.

"the finale left many unanswered questions and dangling plot threads that may never be addressed"

If they're plot threads worth revisiting, they'll be covered in other projects.

Look at what they did with Solo and Darth Maul's return - I don't watch the animated shows, but I'm aware that stuff was covered on those.

@DravenCorvis - maul wasn't covered in the animated shows. All they had was a small meeting of syndicate leaders. Nothing of qira. I believe they did a "sequel" in the comics to try and wrap it but that's probably the least popular medium of sw content.

I hope they do a season 2 of The Acolyte just to give a giant middle finger to the man babies so they have something to cry about at their circle jerk sessions.

@TheFansAreDumb - This is the exact kind of mentality that got this terrible show made and cancelled in the first place. If you're doing it just to dunk on who you disagree with, it's shallow and pointless, won't go anywhere, and doesn't deserve the time of day.

Just like the Acolyte.

@TheFansAreDumb - As many of those you want to give a giant middle finger to have pointed out, they made quite a bit of money on YouTube from all their videos about The Acolyte (in fact, I get the feeling that the videos dunking on the show had as many, and maybe even more, viewers than the show itself), so they would really rather have another season so they can make more money.

Ahsoka was a major letdown not as bad as Kenobi but the equivalent of 4 episodes of TCW stretched into 8 live action shows, nothing at all happens until the very end and then it ends ffs. Also I LOVE Rosario Dawson but her acting is boring as hell I wouldn’t be against Ariana Greenblatt taking over the role

Man that was a rather dark question to ask Manny , dudes only 37 lol…

Anyway , looking forward to Ahsoka S2 since I enjoyed the first one but most interested to see the direction they take Baylan Skoll.

It’s unfortunate that Ray Stevenson is no longer with us since he was probably the MVP of the show to me but i hope they do recast personally (though would understand if they don’t)…

If so then i do think Vincent Regan could be a good replacement.

The Acolyte should return as a moderately budgeted film. Even though special effects can be expensive, movies like The Creator prove it can be done and done well.

How is Ahsoka being filmed next summer disappointing news? At least that's getting a season 2.

Although I do agree them taking years to do seasons is ridiculous.

Ashoka is watchable is the best way I can describe it. The writing is not Acolyte bad but it isn't great. The Anakin episode is reason alone to watch it but as much as I love Rosario Dawson, I don't like her take on Ashoka. I also don't like any of the way they portrayed the rebels crew. They are all so stiff. The men are written especially poorly, Thrawn and Ezra are complete idiots.

maybe shows take longer these days than shit like Lost and 24 because you're comparing apples and oranges when you're on about a VFX and hair/make-up/costume heavy series VS a show set in contemporary times in LA or Hawai'i. NCIS still knocks out 20-odd episodes a time because it's a fricking cop show on Earth, not space-wizards and aliens on planets in another galaxy, or space marines fighting big-ass aliens on a ring-planet.

@SpiderBloke2099 - exactly

If you guys want “quality” then that shit takes time otherwise you then complain about the VFX and such too

There’s no winning

@SpiderBloke2099 - It's also the way streaming and networks work different. The former more than often likes to take their sweet time to renew shows that should be greenlit new Seasons after some months instead of waiting a lot longer, networks on the other hand (besides not always being heavy on VFX etc) have to make a decision by the time of January/February about renewals.

I wish the same time lapse was applied with streamers tbh, would facilitate things more.

I liked him and some of the fights in The Acolyte was pretty good. I didnt hate it, but it sure wasnt good. Mostly stupid and I do neither agree with the "eew woke" crowd or those saying it only failed because SW fans are mostly toxic basement dwelling males. It was just a dull show with a rather silly plot.

And on a side note, I do not get why it is a bad thing that the majority of SW-fans are male, and why they because of that, wanted to reach a new audience (non males I guess).
I dont recall anyone saying Gilmore Girls or Sex in the City should have more pew-pew action and dude-stuff to reach out to a more male audience, but maybe I missed something.

Disheartening to find out it'll take that much for Season 2 of Ahsoka.

I admire Manny Jacinto's dedication in his own way to get The Acolyte saved, really.

Streamers should have a time limit to decide whether or not their shows are worth renewing rather than making fans and cast wait for many months if their projects are canceled or renewed, that's why networks broadcast always have their own slate of shows ready within months, they make decision for better or for worse around post New Year. It's a well oiled machine, so streamers should take note and that way they'd get far better results. Whether they have in their hands IPs that require more VFX and make-up etc.

Only sure things in life: death, taxes, and Josh Wilding making comments about how there are so many fans who are disappointed that there won't be a second season of The Acolyte. (I seriously think Wilding spends so much time on social media, and among those who share his views on social media, that he really believes it represents the real world. News flash, it doesn't. Honestly, the majority of people in American probably do NOT care about The Acolyte one way or another, they've never watched it, paid no attention to all the talk about it, and couldn't care less whether or not it is renewed.)
