OBI-WAN KENOBI: Temuera Morrison On His Unexpected Cameo & "Representing The Clone Army"

Over the course of its six episodes, the Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi series included quite a few surprise appearances, but arguably the most unexpected was a brief cameo from The Book of Boba Fett star Temuera Morrison.

The veteran Once Were Warriors and Aquaman actor didn't reprise the role of the legendary bounty hunter, however.

As most Star Wars fans will no doubt be aware, Boba's father Jango Fett (who Morrison also played in Attack of the Clones) was the genetic basis for the Republic's clone army, who found themselves all-but obsolete when they were replaced by Stormtroopers after the rise of the Empire. Morrison appeared as one of these down-on-his luck clones, who is seen asking Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) for a helping hand in the second episode.

"That was the best part of the whole Obi-Wan Kenobi show!" Morrison tells Total Film (via SFF Gazette). "I'm joking. I really enjoyed that. Playing around in their storyline and their timezone – things are changing. I'm representing all that clone army that are no longer around anymore."

As for how the cameo came about, Morrison revealed that both shows were filming at the same time and in the same location, making a crossover relatively easy to accomplish.

"It was a wonderful opportunity to pop in there and see what they're doing across the room from where we were," he added. "That came in handy, it worked out quite good to make a little cameo. I enjoyed working with Ewan again, going back to Attack of the Clones. We did all that [puts on clone character's voice], "Hey, you! You came to see me and this army," and all that stuff. It was a wonderful time."

Although a second season of The Book of Boba Fett is up in the air for now, Morrison is expected to reprise the title role at some point, but whether he'll get the chance to play one of the more recognizable clone characters, such as Captain Rex, remains to be seen.

What did you make of Morrison's cameo and Obi-Wan Kenobi overall? Drop us a comment down below.

@Fogs - It’s not that, I just didn’t care enough to look. I was too busy waiting for the good part to get going. I only had to wait 2 more episodes lol

@Blergh - In a way... but then I wouldn't like to have seen Rex on the streets!

I hope the rumours are wrong and we're getting Lars Mikkelsen back as Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Question for those well versed in SW lore: why did the Empire not continue using the Clones? They actually knew how to fight, unlike the expendable stormtroopers.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Because the cloning facilities on Kamino were shut down by galactic Senators trying to slowly diminish the Empire's armies. So then the Empire opted to recruit or "kidnap" children at a young age and raise them with the Empire beliefs. This gave the Empire support from various parts of the Galaxy as they believed in the mission the Empire wanted.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I think it was also because they felt enlisted troops are way more loyal in the end (or atleast, that's how Tarkin felt about it), and less susceptible to bioweapons and diseases (they all shared the same biosignature).

Other than that, most likely costs and clones being traumatized by forcibly killing their generals (and thus unable to think and fight and strategize clearly)

It was cool seeing Morrison again, but kinda sad as a veteran cast aside.

On the topics of clones though, I really liked how they looked in live-action. The clone troopers in the prequels looked fine for their time, but I think it could've been better if they were practical too back then.

Is it still canon that Vader kept his 501st clones for his personal stormtrooper legion?

Glad I'm not the only one hoping he'll show up as Rex in the Asohka series. That would be awesome!
