THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT Season 2 Gets A Disappointing Update From Star Temuera Morrison

There are plenty of Star Wars fans who would like to see The Book of Boba Fett return for a second season, but lead star Temuera Morrison has just shared a disappointing update on the show's future...

As far as we're aware, Lucasfilm still hasn't renewed The Book of Boba Fett for a second season. As a result,  it's looking increasingly unlikely that another batch of episodes will hit Disney+ in the near future.

Actor Temuera Morrison hasn't shied away from criticising the way he was left on the shelf when The Mandalorian season 3 rolled around and once went so far as to say Din Djarin taking centre stage in The Book of Boba Fett went some way in "ruining" the spin-off series.

While harsh, it's a valid observation in some respects because an entire episode of the show was devoted to Din and Grogu, with both characters - and their heartfelt reunion - largely overshadowing Fett during the finale.

Now, Morrison has once again chimed in on the odds of The Book of Boba Fett season 2 happening and, unfortunately, it's not an overly positive update.

"I don't know what's going on there," he confesses in the video below (via SFFGazette.com). "We're coming out of this downtime period so I think everyone is just settling back in and it all goes back to budgets and what they want to do and how much the thing costs. I really don't know. Judging by the fans I've met, they all want a season two, but I don't know what's going to happen."

In some respects, it makes sense for The Book of Boba Fett to be a limited series. After all, it finally solved the mystery of how the bounty hunter survived the events of Return of the Jedi and ultimately solidified his place as Tatooine's new leader.

While there was room to tell more stories, the response to the spin-off was a little tepid and the way things played out wasn't what many fans wanted to see from a character who was arguably at his best as a mysterious bounty-hunting badass.

That post-credits tease about Cobb Vanth needs to be addressed in some way, though, and we're sure an episode or two of The Mandalorian season 4 could manage that before giving Fett a role in Dave Filoni's planned Star Wars movie (he'd no doubt be key in helping turn the tide against Grand Admiral Thrawn).

You can check out Morrison's comments in full in the player below.

The Book of Boba Fett, a thrilling Star Wars adventure teased in a surprise end-credit sequence following the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian, finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.

As far as I'm concerned Babba never made it out of that Sarlacc pit.

@bl0odwerk - I liked him enough in Attack of the clones to want to see more of him but the character Disney has him playing is absolute wet dog shit. The amount of squandered potential is why fans hate Disney as much as they do.

You would deny us all those amazing character-building moments from Boba Fett season one?!

I liked the show okay.

No more needed though.

TOO many Star Wars shows.

A Disappointing Update? I thought for a minute he was going to say it was returning?
Better to leave it alone so we don't have to watch him getting his butt kicked every week,

Boba Fatt should have remained in the Sarlacc pit and live off his reputation.

I liked the series, especially the whole part with the Sandpeople.
Does it need a 2nd season? No. Would I be mad if they go forth with it? I'm all for if they do that's fine and if they don't that's fine.

If they got Christopher Nolan to write and direct it, then sure, I’m there. All jokes aside though, I’d like to see one more season, if done correctly to the bounty hunter we saw in The Empire Strikes Back. He’s an intelligent cold hearted assassin.

If there was a great script, then sure, let’s do it. I would love to see his REAL death scene, and kill the character off going out in a blaze of glory, jet pack, guns firing and all.

But save his ship, maybe hand it off to the Mandalorian, or some other ruthless bounty hunter.

I thought S1 was decent…

I hope we do get a S2 since I still think the premise has potential and that it could also always improve on their faults aswell.

Then again , my only exposure to Boba Fett was the films & CW and he did really nothing for me in the former while there was interesting stuff in the latter that this show seemed to build on to an extent.

For the best, they made the most badass Bounty Hunter in the galaxy a shadow of his former self. A show starring Fennec probably would've been more interesting.

Want to do more with Fett

Use Morrison as a framing device for a prequel story. Give him some action in the first and last episode

Get Daniel Logan back and complete the arc that clone wars started

I never asked for Bobba Fett, but I did ask for Ewan's Obi-Wan many years ago, and I enjoyed the series we eventually got.

I would like to see more stories with him but without any Skywalkers, nor him protecting children, but instead more ass-kicking.

Maybe CBM can sell the rights to "The Book of Gusto" to Disney?

I’m down for a season two but get back to a more Brutal Bounty Hunter rather than a good guy crime lord. I’d rather see a revenge story or a bounty hunter hunting the unhuntable (maybe a Jedi or sith or another bounty hunter).
The good thing about season 1 being a 6 out of 10 means season 2 can definitely be better.

Ill take a subpar Star Wars show over 50% of shows on tv and streaming now. You idiots complain about every little detail and don't sit back and appreciate what you are given. I would have been so appreciative of having anything more back in the 70's and 80's when I was growing up. YOU ALL SUCK! Everything is so Negative these days , everyone is so spoiled and entitled. GROW UP!

@Imdewback - I agree with you completely. I would have loved seeing these Star Wars shows in the early 80’s on television. Yes, the writing isn’t perfect by any means, but this is fun to watch for kids who grew up watching the original Star Wars trilogy in the theaters, not the Special Editions, the original ones. I’m so glad they made these different series, looking forward to Skeleton Crew and The Acolyte next. Don’t take these shows for granted.

I’d rather they just not. The first is good if you can find it edited to edited somewhere in chronological order and watch it that way. But the way it was edited and the way they put it together visually? Nah, no thanks.
