The Book of Boba Fett is set to serve as The Mandalorian "season 2.5," but as the title suggests, the spotlight will primarily be on the bounty hunter we first met in The Empire Strikes Back

During a recent interview with The Express, star Temuera Morrison made it clear he could reveal "nothing" about the plot of the Disney+ series, but did confirm that, "It's in the timeline of The Mandalorian so, I guess, we gotta go back and see. It's a duo thing. We've got Ming-Na Wen in there - she's playing the master assassin Fennec Shand."

"We've gotta look at the timeline, we gotta look at where [Boba] has been," he teased, possibly hinting that the series will explore what Fett was doing before he caught up with Din Djarin. "We gotta keep the fans happy."

Helping ensure that Star Wars fans are kept happy is an A-List team of filmmakers, and Morrison went on to name some of them. "Jon [Favreau] has come up with some magical formulas. We've got some great directors onboard - Robert Rodriguez, Favreau, Bryce [Dallas Howard], Dave Filoni."

"It's just a new world! It's a new world. They like to keep the Star Wars stuff under [lock and] key. But, I think we're blessed in the way Favreau has all that Marvel experience, so we know where those storylines go. Let's see what happens."

Clearly, The Book of Boba Fett is in good hands, and with that December premiere fast approaching, it surely won't be too much longer before Disney and Lucasfilm share a first look at the series.

There are plenty of rumours out there about what to expect, though it definitely sounds like Boba will be crossing paths with the last man to wear his armor: Timothy Olyphant's Cobb Vanth. Pedro Pascal is also expecting to make a cameo appearance in order to bridge the gap between the second and third seasons of The Mandalorian

He can also confirm he'll be fighting in the now unnamed Boba fetts starship.

@Origame - I'm pretty sure it's still the Slave 1, they just won't refer to as such in marketing (and in the movies and shows it hasn't been called that anyway, so no loss there)

@Origame - I dont think they've ever called it Slave 1 in any movies...

@CorndogBurglar - yeah, “the cargo hold” is the only direct reference to the ship. And I don’t think any star wars ship has it’s name said, save The Millennium Falcon.

I still think they could’ve just left it alone though. Ironically, they didn’t want to have controversy over Slave 1, but by removing the name they made controversy & brought the name to light to a lot of the GA. Two days ago my wife asks if I heard about Boba ship. “Ah, it’s reached you normies?” I joked; but also asked if she had any idea what the ship’s name was before this. Now, we’ve been married a decade, Boba’s my main, our son has a sh-t ton of Slave 1s. Wife had never bothered to read the box, had no idea the ship had a name until this “controversy.”

Anyhow, like @bkmeijer said, hopefully they’ll still “call” it Slave 1 in world wherever it happens to pop up, but they just remove the name on the toy box.

@MG0019 - I dont even think anybody would've noticed if they just changed the name on the box without any announcement whatsoever

@MG0019 - Oh agree, dont get me wrong. I hope it can still be called that in comics, books, and whatever else. And if not, its not like its a huge deal of its never mentioned, since it already wasn't ever mentioned lol.

I wonder if this will be 4 episodes or 8 episodes. Since it's referred to as The Mandalorian season 2.5, I'm hoping it's the latter.

And it taking place after The Mandalorian season 2 makes sense, for the same reason I'm hoping it's 8 episodes. Hope we do get to see a younger Boba Fett (and other crime syndicate related characters) in the Lando show though.

Can we just give Filoni the keys already.

I think Boba and Omega are important to season three of The Mandalorian. A clone army may be central to the New Mandalore saga

@Repian - it would be really cool to see Omega show up in The Book of Boba Fett, but beyond that I doubt we'll see much of them in The Mandalorian

@Repian - would be pleased if they go this route rather than clone snokes route cuz no one wants true First Order anywhere near this content

We’ll see how this turns out… I’m not totally sold on the character, let alone as a lead. The Mandalorian stuff about him felt way to reverent to be interesting. I fear the assertion “We’ve got to keep the fans happy” could easily tip over into “we have to cater to die-hard fanboys’ fantasies and make sure to beat the audience over the head with how awesome he is”.

The more they play that side up, the more I want to see him take another pratfall into a sarlaac pit.
