Cameras are currently rolling on Star Wars: The Acolyte, the upcoming Disney+ series that will explore The High Republic era in live-action for the first time.

Set roughly 100 years before the events of The Phantom Menace, the show has been described as a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a Galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.

Along the way, a former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated. Aside from a sneak peek at some of the show's characters in set photos, we have no real idea who anyone is playing, including Jodie Turner-Smith.

During a recent interview with Collider (via SFFGazette.com), the actress refused to give too much away, but made it clear she's enjoyed her trip to this Galaxy Far, Far Away.

"I was working with my favorite director that I've worked with so far, Kogonada, and under the leadership of Leslye Headland. It is incredible to see. I can't wait to see how this show turns out."

"Amandla [Stenberg] is such an incredible performer," Turner-Smith continued. "I, unfortunately, didn't have any scenes with her, but I got to see a little bit of what they've been doing, and I think it's gonna be epic, and it's nothing that anyone has seen before inside of that universe."

Asked whether she wielded a lightsaber, the actress got cryptic. "I didn't get to use a lightsaber...but I did..not get to use a lightsaber...Because I am not a Jedi!"

We're definitely intrigued, and with rumours swirling that The Acolyte will explore the creation of the Sith, the show might prove to be unlike anything we've been expecting.

The cast of the series includes Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Carrie-Ann Moss, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Charlie Barnett, and Dean-Charles Chapman.

The Acolyte will stream exclusively on Disney+, though a premiere date has yet to be revealed.

She isn’t a Jedi, if you couldn’t be bothered to read.

Creation of the Sith? That better not be the case. The Sith were created thousands of years before this.

When will the mouse tell us this is an ancestor of Finn in some convoluted last sh!tty Star Wars trilogy way cooked up by JJ Abrams?

@ClintThaHamster -

I am not mad at anything. I actually think this is a convoluted thing they might do since they did something that ridiculous in the last sh!tty trilogy.

@DocSpock - That was four years ago, though. There've been four Star Wars shows with six collective seasons between them, and none of them have done anything like what you're complaining about. JJ Abrams isn't working on Star Wars anymore. Time to move on.

Not big into Star Wars, but we do watch the Mandalorian. This cast has me intrigued.

@ptick - Incredible cast, for sure. Andor is also fantastic, if you haven't given that a shot.
