While The Book of Boba Fett is coming to Disney+ on December 29, we won't be catching up with Din Djarin until next year at the earliest (unless there's some truth to The Mandalorian lead making a cameo appearance in the spinoff). However, thanks to Making Star Wars, we do have some intriguing new details about what to expect from season 3.
According to the site, Disney and Lucasfilm are in the process of casting around 75 actors and extras to don different suits of Mandalorian armour for a massive sequence in the show.
The plan is for the featured Mandalorians to be actors, while those in the background are likely to be fans who have created their own armour (similar to the Stormtroopers in the first season). It also sounds like a surprisingly colourful sequence, as the site notes that these armoured extras will be swapping pieces to give themselves a "patchwork" appearance showing how they've struggled since the fall of Mandalore. Din donned a similar look during those early couple of episodes.
The site goes on to explain that "disparate individual Mandalorians from around the galaxy answer a call Din Djarin sends out for help. Din Djarin’s legend is growing as rumors of a true Mandalorian returning is heard throughout the galaxy. When Din makes the call, it is answered by more Mandalorians [than] you could have ever imagined."
Apparently, the site has even seen a few pieces of red armour from the Mandalorians who pledged allegiance to Maul in The Clone Wars, so something tells us this will be a truly epic moment. There have been rumblings that season 3 of The Mandalorian will be its last, and with that in mind, the battle to retake Mandalore could be a focal point of this next batch of episodes from the start.
We're not anticipating having much to share on The Mandalorian beyond rumours for a while, but it's definitely possible The Book of Boba Fett will drop at least a few hints about where that series goes next (Fett may have missed Luke Skywalker's return, but he wasn't too far from Moff Gideon's ship).
