THE MANDALORIAN Season 3 Trailer Receives More Views In 24 Hours Than Any Other STAR WARS TV Series

Following the release of a new trailer for The Mandalorian last Monday, it's been revealed that it received more views in 24 hours than any other sneak peek for a Disney+ Star Wars TV series. Check it out!

Last week, Lucasfilm and Disney+ released a new trailer for The Mandalorian season 3, and The Hollywood Reporter (via SFFGazette.com) has now revealed that it drew a massive 83.5 million views during its first 24 hours.

Premiering during the NFL wild card playoff game before immediately being shared on social media and YouTube, the viewership figure above makes it the highest-viewed trailer ever for a Star Wars TV series on the streaming platform.

The previous record-holder was Obi-Wan Kenobi with 58 million views, and given how highly anticipated that Revenge of the Sith follow-up was, this really drives home just how much interest there is in The Mandalorian's return.

Like previous trailers for the series, the sneak peek didn't reveal much but did tease the continuing adventures of Din Djarin and Grogu as the former looks to return to Mandalore in order to regain his status as a Mandalorian. You can find our full breakdown of the teaser here.

We're looking forward to a lot of big surprises when the show returns, though whether anything can top Mark Hamill's return as Luke Skywalker in the season 2 finale is hard to say. We do, however, expect to learn more about whatever Moff Gideon has been up to and whether that really is tied to Emperor Palpatine's cloning and Supreme Leader Snoke's creation.

In season 3, the journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars Galaxy continue. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.

The series stars Pedro Pascal, Katee Sackhoff, Carl Weathers, Amy Sedaris, Emily Swallow, and Giancarlo Esposito.

It's also been confirmed that The Mandalorian's directing team will be comprised of Rick Famuyiwa, Rachel Morrison, Lee Isaac Chung, Carl Weathers, Peter Ramsey, and Bryce Dallas Howard, an all-star team we're sure will bring plenty of exciting ideas and visuals to this corner of a Galaxy Far, Far Away.

Jon Favreau is the showrunner/head writer and serves as an executive producer along with Dave Filoni, Rick Famuyiwa, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist and Carrie Beck are co-executive producers.

The Mandalorian season 3 premieres on Disney+ on March 1.

The trailer didn't work for me, mostly because they acted like we wouldn't be seeing Grogu for awhile after the finale. Yet here we are, without a time jump smh

@bobevanz - That’s not a trailer issue tho. They reunited in BoBF, it would be weird to act like the continuation of of their story didn’t already happen

@bobevanz - Kennedy forced Favreau and Filoni to make a episode of Grogu returning to Mando in a show completely unrelated. They were intentionally moving away from Grogu and making him the future of the Jedi for a post ST story. Now he's back in every episode because he's the draw. It's a shame.

I like both seasons of the Mandalorian, but it is apparent they are going to shoehorn Grogu in every time.

If so, just make it that way, like Luke Skywalker & R2D2.

They want more Grogu. More Grogu = more merch & more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

@DocSpock -

That is some cynical stuff right there. The whole thing is base on Lone Wolf and Cub, which is a graphic novel about a Ronin and a young boy. They are actively exploring the weakness of the Jedi and contrasting that with the rigidity of the Mandalorians.

Do you think Grogu is in there because it both serves the story and because audiences have fallen in love with him?

@Goldboink -

??

I do indeed think he is there for both of those reasons. The third reason is he is burps huge bucks.

All 3 things can be true.

@DocSpock -

Of course they are in it for the money. That's why they exist. If you do the first two things correctly the money will follow. By "shoehorning him in" that kind of implies that they changed their plans to include more of Grogu in order to sell more toys when, in fact, the plan all along was to have Mando and Grogu operating as a pair to be the main attraction of the show.

Favs and Feloni were very clear that the inspiration for the show was going to be base on Lone Wolf and Cub from the outset.

@Goldboink - Grogu was being written off as a mainstay intentionally. Kennedy said nope. Hence why Boba Fett all of a sudden became a Mando show.

I'm still disappointed how they handled the grogu/mando reunion in BOBF. Not to mention that show completely shit on Boba Fett.

@JFerguson - it was so anti Luke to give Grogu the dumbest binary choice of all time.

Is it a strange coincidence that Mandalorian season 3 begins really close to Star Wars Jedi Survivor on March 17th?

Could Cal Kestis possibly appear in season 3?

So it looks like they are counting the tv views during the game and adding them to the internet trailer. The game drew around 31 million viewers. So 83.5 - 31 = 52.5. Obi got 58 million so if you remove the views from the game it had less views for the trailers then the Obi one. The numbers they released assume that all the people watching the football game also saw the trailer with intention to do so.

I watched the game but only caught the very end of the trailer cause it was half-time and that's when most fans aren't watching the screen and are doing something else waiting for the game to return.
