THE MANDALORIAN Star Pedro Pascal Teases Din Djarin's Struggle To Become A Leader In Season 3

Lucasfilm still hasn't shared The Mandalorian season 3 trailer that debuted during this year's Star Wars Celebration, so we're waiting with bated breath to see if it drops during September's Disney+ Day.

While Grogu was quickly reunited with Din Djarin in The Book of Boba Fett, there's a lot of intrigue surrounding where their story goes next. All signs point to the bounty hunter returning to Mandalore to regain his Mandalorian status, but what about the Darksaber, Bo-Katan Kryze's plans to restore her home, and Moff Gideon's machinations?

During a recent interview with Games Radar (via SFFGazette.com), Pedro Pascal shared some insights into where we'll find Din when The Mandalorian returns, suggesting he's struggling with the responsibility the Darksaber brings. "If he is stepping into a leadership position," the actor teases, "he’s reluctant to do so."

"I don't think that there's anything more interesting than a character being forced into discovering what they're capable of, and who they are. That part has been really, really fun," he explained. "Also, from my point of view, there's so many searchable ways to find the tonality of that. I just tried to achieve the subtleties of that kind of character development."

Bo-Katan herself, Katee Sackhoff, also weighed in on her character's failure to wield the Darksaber, saying: "Anytime you have a goal and you don't succeed, I think you reevaluate."

That's all she'd tease about that, but Sackhoff did confirm her Mandalorian will be reunited with Grogu. "It’s funny because you always have to think about how you're interacting with Grogu. It's so specific, you have to make sure that you're not doing anything that says something different. Every single thing, every single interaction with Grogu is very, very thought out."

We're intrigued to see where this Star Wars series goes next, especially as there have already been hints about the story being key to at least some of what we saw in the sequels (Emperor Palpatine's cloning plans and Supreme Leader Snoke's creation, for example).

Mandalore is also incredibly important to this franchise's lore, so exploring that planet after the Empire laid waste to it has a lot of potential. You'll want to stay tuned to SFFGazette.com for updates as we learn more about the show's next batch of episodes.

The Mandalorian is set to premiere on Disney+ sometime next February.

He's right about how in stories the best leaders often come out from the ones that were the most relunctant and weren't always interested or actively looking for that role. He describes well the arc that awaits Din in S3.

He had no problem being a leader in any other show.
He led the Sandpeople into taking down the Kryat Dragon
He led the team in the assault on the Imperial base with Bill Burr
He organized the rescue of Grogu in the finale.

@TyrantBossMedia - Those were squad leader type roles on specific missions. The leader of an entire people or planet is something else entirely.

@NGFB - It’s actually sometimes easier to do that if you know how to delegate.

@AnthonyVonGeek - she's the one that must have given it the green light though. So rather have her around keep doing that

Judging from his episodes in TBOBF and episode structure of earlier seasons, I don't think we'll see him do much leading this season.

I think he won't even reach Mandalore until the sixth or seventh episode. He'll probably do some training with the Armourer first and have another run-in with Bo-Katan before that.

I got a bad feeling about this...
