It's been a while since we had any updates on this one, but the first footage from The CW's Naomi debuted during DC FanDome last night, and the brief teaser featured a blink-and-you'll-miss-it glimpse of Superman!

The clip begins with the titular teen (Kaci Walfall) in class preparing for a debate when a text from her friend alerts her to some sort of nearby "stunt" involving the Man of Steel. Naomi grabs her skateboard and rushes to catch a glimpse of her hero, but begins to feel woozy and drops to the ground as Supes jets past overhead.

We're not sure if Superman will actually put in a proper appearance in the show, but if he does, we assume he'll be played by Tyler Hoechlin.

Ava DuVernay teamed with Arrow writer and co-exec producer Jill Blankenship to write and exec produce the project, which is based on the 2019 teen superhero tale of the same name from writers Brian Michael Bendis and David F. Walker, and artist Jamal Campbell.

The comic follows Naomi McDuffie, a teenage superhero from an alternate Earth with energy-based powers who discovers that she was sent to the Prime Universe to be preserved from Zumbado, the destructive conqueror of her home planet. The show is expected to focus on "a teen girl’s journey from her small northwestern town to the heights of the multiverse. When a supernatural event shakes her hometown to the core, Naomi sets out to uncover its origins, and what she discovers will challenge everything we believe about our heroes."

Naomi also stars Alexander Wraith (Orange Is the New Black, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Cranston Johnson (Filthy Rich, P-Valley) and newcomer Camila Moreno. Sarah Bremner and Paul Garnes are also on board as producers. No premiere date has been announced, but the show is expected to hit our screens in 2022.

I'm not really a fan of that cringey high school stuff. Other than that, I really don't get this teaser. It teases that she will faint? And thats it

This will flop hard and still get 10 seasons because it's on CW, innit?

If it's really that amateur-ish as much as it looks then how the f*ck are they supposed to adapt all the alien shit that demands VFX, in other words, a certain amount of budget? lel.

It's almost as if Bendis created Naomi, SPECIFICALLY for Ava DuVernay to adapt her in live-action.😂

Curious to see if this gets better or worse ratings than “Batwoman”.

It's amazing how organically and naturally these kinds of things come about in pop culture.

Not gonna lie, I know nothing about this character, but I’m intrigued by the show. I’ll give it 3 episodes to try and get me invested

That "Superman" cameo probably it costs millions to WB

@Thechoker - Nah, Tyler Hoechlin's superman is already in the series. I didn't think it will cost billions.

I just wonder, why superman abandoned a faint girl on the roadside? he should help that lady! that's racist!

I've never heard of this character before but her surname has to be a tribute to Dwayne McDuffie, right?

It was a very vague teaser, they should have shown a little more. I know some stuff of her origins in the comic book's pages so the presence of a Superman appearing there was not random at all.

I hope the next proper trailer reveals Naomi wearing her armor with more plot details.

This is just stupid giving such an unknown character her own series, are there not more established DC characters that are more deserving? I give this 1 season and it'll be cancelled I don't see this having any kind of mass appeal.
