Based on the popular 1980s video game, Rampage reteams Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson with San Andreas helmer Brad Peyton, a fun action movie which was a hit at the worldwide box office.

Based on what we see in this latest trailer, the movie is going to very faithfully follow the game by pitting Johnson (described as an animal-loving hero who is the world’s only hope) against three gigantic monsters - a monstrously transformed gorilla, crocodile and wolf - who wreak havoc on American cities and landmarks. It sounds like a lot of fun and is clearly shaping up be an enjoyable popcorn movie.
Ryan Engle wrote the original draft of the screenplay, with work contributed by Carlton Cuse and Ryan Condal. Adam Sztykiel did the most current revisions, and the movie is set to be released on April 20th, next year. What do you guys think of this cool new look at Rampage? Share your thoughts below.

I feel like all the least likely videogames get movie adaptations somehow. That shitty Mario Bros movie, detective Pikachu, Tetris, Rampage, Slenderman.

There are so many richer IPs to mine from. How about a Mass Effect, Bioshock, Half-Life, or Fallout movie (for starters)?

@PicolasCage - I 100% agree. Detective Pikachu!? And they got Ryan Reynolds to voice him. That movie is going to make a ton of money and these studios are going to green light other similar nonsense thinking that it’s a trend.

@WruceBayne - yeah, it’s just a little bizarre imo. Like they pick all the games with little to no plot and wonder why they turn out horribly. Meanwhile there are dozens of stellar, ready-made plots and loveable characters just waiting one the sidelines.

Once they finally crack that nut though, videogame adaptations will be the next “CBMs” of the industry. IPs preciously deemed nerdy that will quickly become adored by the GA and dominate the box office

Looks like there is some decent fun to be had, but also looks like they may have lost sight of the point and "plot" of the games.

Doesn't look bad. Doubt I'll spend money at the show. Maybe I'll rent it but it looks way better than I expected
