Is Warner Brothers Looking for a Female Director for WONDER WOMAN?

Sources from the Hollywood Reporter seem to indicate that Warner Bros is looking for a female director to helm the Wonder Woman movie.

2017 marks the date for the first female led superhero movie in this new age of Marvel and DC films. But this could also be the date a big budget superhero film comes out that is directed by a woman. In a recent Hollywood Reporter article detailing Superhero movies from 2015-2020 they let this slip,

Warners also is opting for strong directors, tapping David Ayer (Fury) for Suicide Squad and seeking a female helmer for Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman.

The Wonder Woman movie no doubt deserves to have the best actors, writers, and director going for it. But Is a female director neccesary for Wonder Woman to succeed? Or Is Warner Bros just limiting themselves by not looking at all directors both male and female?

So they are gonna film the movie in a kitchen?

I have a fear that if they look for a female director, they'll end up with one who believes in feminazism not feminism or egalitarianism. Joss Whedon or the Russos would make a great director for a Wonder Woman movie, as one (Whedon) claims/shows strong female leads and the other (Russos) deliver multiple strong female characters.

Get a good director who knows how to make a good character, not a "feminist" director.

Though she's done only war films, I think Kathryn Bigelow would kill it.

@Marky

Lol Black Widow in Avengers is not knowing female characters. She's all boobs and ass there.

She's probably in too deep with her Mark Boal projects, but Kathryn Bigelow would be an interesting choice.

It doesn't necesarilly have to be directed by a woman, but being written by one would go a long way.

Wonder Woman could essentially be a "war" film, so Katheryn Bigelow would be great.

Shonda Rhymes...(-_-)...(T~T)
Seriously though, if they are intent on doing that, then maybe they should consider that One female director that did Zero Dark Thirty, Kathryn Bigelo.

Or why not just looking for a good director, if it ends being a woman great, if not also great

@DIAMONDZ

It is kind of a win-win. Critics will have a harder time bashing it with a woman director which will get people in seats. I care about the writer of the film. MCU's directors didn't do a lot before their superhero movie but as long as the director, male or female, understands the character and has a great writer behind the scenes, who really cares?

I think he's bitter because it's coming out that he really is just the "TV version" of the Green Arrow character. They could easily introduce Green Arrow in the Cinematic Universe like they did with Flash.

Darren Aronofsky would be my 1st choice......he wanted to do a Batman movie before Nolan.....I bet he's still interested in a DC movie.
